Help Only One Problem With X2

esmith818

Android Enthusiast
The X2 has a Social Networking app which allows you to register multiple network accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, LinkedIn, etc. It appears that if I login to my Facebook account, all my FB friends are added to my Contacts (no option to sync only existing contacts like I had on OG Droid Facebook app). If I remove that account and instead install the FB app, it no longer offers to sync with contact list. So basically, if I want FB profile pics to populate my Contact list, I have to accept having all my "friends" appear in Contacts.

On a related note, whenever I try to click on any setting in my Contacts app, I am returned to my homescreen (kicked out of the Contacts app altogether). Perhaps that has to do with the fact that I am rooted, but I can't figure out how that would be an issue (and I don't care enough yet to unroot to confirm).

Anyone else having either of these problems? Any ideas on workarounds?

This seems to be a pretty common (and unfortunate) problem with the X2. I imagine the first update will fix this bug, at least I can dream. Check out the other threads though. Look for ones with titles of 'facebook/ contacts/ etc'

This is nothing new, it is the wonders of Blur. I remember first encountering it on the CLIQ and it annoying the crap out of me.

I've been wondering if I could freeze the Social Networking app without having any issues. I still want my FB contacts to be synced up, but do I actually need the Social Networking app?

I would be careful as it is a part of Blur which is a part of the system.

I froze that app on my phone and installed the Facebook app instead. No problems (at least none that didn't already exist before freezing it).

Just found this today while searching the motorola forum.
Go to your contact app and open it.
THen hit the hard menu button.
Then choose "display options"
Then you have a couple options here.
I checked "only contacts with phones"
And that gets rid of all of those email only contacts showing.

Next under each source uncheck the boxes of those that you don't want to display, such as facebook, yahoo, ect.

This drove me nuts until I found it... It was ruining my usage of the phone!
Hope it helps you also.

+1

Oddly, I could not select settings in Contacts when I posted yesterday. Today I received a new phone because my LEDs were faulty (see the other post I started) and now my settings do work and my Contacts are manageable again!

@ Danbudy : Thanks for that! It wasn't killing me because I only had Twitter contacts so far, but now I can go ahead and add facebook.

The problem is contacts all around. Any new contacts that I add can't be found in Contacts. But then strangely enough when I go to text someone, the phone won't find facebook contacts, but people I've added separately. If I want to call someone, I have to first text them, then look at their number in the text message and just say call this person.

Come on MOTO.

Were you able to get your Facebook contact pictures synced with your Google contacts without using the Moto Social Networking?

No. I had to use the Social Networking app to sync the pics. Then I edited the settings in Contacts (display options) to uncheck "all contacts" in Facebook. Finally, I froze the Social Networking app.
