Root Ooops! Help - stuck in recovery menu

I got the text message about the VirginMobile Android security update.... I forgot that I had rooted my phone since I don't use any of the 'rooted' features. So I got this text message and thought, why not, and tried to install it.

The phone did a reboot and now I am stuck in the recovery menu. Is there any hope of salvaging this without wiping out everything on the phone? I don't care if I loose the root access or even the ability to root, I'd be happy to just put the VM update on and get back to life.

Anyone have any ideas? The recover screen says "RA-thunderc-v-1.2.0-GNM" if that helps. I'd be most grateful for any advice to get the phone back up and running.

Hmmm... Looking around a bit more, I found and installed xionia_cwma_12518.6.img and via that recovery menu I was able to go into advanced and choose the "fix recovery loop" option which got me back to normal, at least it seems to have. :)

THANKS TO ALL FOR THE GREAT WORK AND GREAT INFORMATION IN THIS FORUM!

Good job! and welcome to the forums. :)

Do you still have root after the update and flashing that recovery? From what I understand, unless I missed something recently, there currently is no way to get root back after that update.

As it turned out, the upgrade did not get installed, when I used the recovery to fix the boot-loop problem it restarted the same as it was before. I don't think I'll bother trying to put the update on again, both because of the lack of being able to root it if I wanted to and also because of the problems it has caused me. :)
