Open Mail with Gmail App?

I have the HTC Mail widget on my homescreen. Is there any way to have the phone open messages with the Gmail App when I select them rather than opening with the HTC Mail App? For example, I also have the HTC Messages widget on my homescreen. When I select a message from that widget, the phone opens the message in the Handcent SMS app that I downloaded. When I first downloaded Handcent, the phone asked what program should be used as the default for messaging. I never got a prompt like that for email.

No, I don't think so. You might try searching the market for gmail widget. Maybe one of those'll be to your liking.
