Help Open Programs on the 10.1 Tab

Today is my first day with Android. I bought a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab.

Can someone tell me when you have an app open, how do you close that app? Does it automatically close when you press the home key?

I have been an iPad user since the day they were released and this is all new to me. Thanks in advance for any information. The manual only supplies basic information. I must say this device is beautiful and fast compared to the iPad 1.

You don't close it, you just hit home or back and the app is suspended, ready for when you return. Android isn't like windows or iOS, it manages it's resources automatically.
