I ran across this program at XDA (this thread) regarding a program called Heimdall and it looks very promising as an alternative to Odin that will also work for OSX and Linux. As of this moment, working on other Galaxy S phones including the Epic & Captivate but untested on the Fascinate. To get this and try, see here: Heimdall – Glass Echidna
The Linux version must be compiled from source, and I am just an Ubuntu user (have never compiled) so have not tried this yet myself. It would probably be best if some Windows users with Odin handy in case things don't work try this on the Fascinate first. If the windows version works on the Fascinate, than I will figure out how to test the Linux version if nobody more experienced steps up.
Proceed at your own risk, not really for Noobies.
