Opinion about Nexus 5 availability through carriers?

I am debating if I should get the LG G2 or the Nexus5.
What will make me choose is the price and carrier availability.
What do you think? When the Nexus 5 will be released, will it also be available through carriers also we will have to wait for some time like they did with the Nexus 4 (in Canada at least)?

Well the rumor is that it's headed to all carriers,in the US that is and is rumor for release next month.

It's not coming to Verizon, I can say that will almost absolute confidence if D820 is in fact the Nexus 5.

As for Canadian carriers, I don't know enough about how they do business to make any sort of accurate guess.

So lets say I'm a VZW customer who is looking to change, and I like the concept of the Nexus product line. Could I sign up for ATT, get a device with a sim card, then buy the nexus 5, swap sim cards, and put the device I bought from ATT on eBay, and ride off into the sunset?

Hypothetically yes, but you may not even need to buy the first device. You may be able to just buy the nexus 5 when it comes out, then go to a store and pick up your sim. If you're the only one on your plan is much cheaper to go prepaid than postpaid. The at&t go phone 60 dollar plan has unlimited minutes and texts with 2gb of data with no extra fees or taxes other than sales tax.

It's tough to tell. I would imagine that some carrier might offer it, it's been that way for a couple of iterations now. Though I wouldn't expect all of them to. It's such a steal on Google Play to buy full retail and avoid pesky contracts and inflated postpaid rates though.

I'm not sure of what the Google Play Price of the Nexus 4 was, but the 8GB was $300 and 16GB was $350 in the states. In comparison, the Galaxy Note III is 300 subsidized by the carriers here. I would expect the Nexus 5 to be somewhere around that same price point.

I still can't tell which carrier that phone belongs to... ;)

My family is moving to T-Mobile when the contract with VZW ends in December. All of us no longer stray far enough from metropolitan area to take the advantage of VZW's network.

Yep, I'm looking to do the same, but in Jan. Luckily a neighbor of mine is getting the Nexus5 on AT&T and I'll be able to see how the device is and how the radio performs wrt the LTE signal in my neighborhood and at work before I decide to ditch my unlimited data to move to a 6G shared AT&T plan.

With the newer phones it seems they're doing more with less. Meaning the processors work way better and use less juice. The S4 has a 2200 or 2400 mAh battery, and will last all day, where my GNex would only last 4 hours on 2100
