Opinions from those that went from Droid Incredible to the Maxx

I would like to hear you guys opinions on going from the Incredible to the Maxx. I really like the way Sense organizes the way I use my phone. And it's gonna be difficult to learn another interface. So give me your thoughts.
Thanks..

My last phone was the Incredible and the learning curve was not that dramatic coming from Sense. I learned it pretty fast. After using both I would say that I prefer Blur. I use GO Launcher EX and WidgetLocker as well and I love the combo of the three.

Were you rooted on the Dinc and with a newer version of Sense?

I'm a huge fan of the Incredible. It is a great phone. It will take you a bit of time getting used to the bigger phone but the tradeoffs are worth it. The thing I miss most about my Incredible is its camera. The camera on the Maxx is OK but not nearly as nice as the one on the Dinc.

I went from the incredible to the rezound to the maxx. Love the maxx. Battery life alone was worth the switch. I like sense, but with go launcher, I am more than satisfied. Fast, great screen, lightweight, and did I mention the phenomenal battery?

Yeah I was rooted off and on, and some of the new versions of Sense were OK..

I took my camera out right after I bought it, so I could take it into work. So I've never really got attached to the camera.

I went from the DINC to the Maxx. While I liked the DINC and it served me well for almost 2 years, the Maxx is vastly superior, even outside of its 4G capabilities. I liked HTC Sense as well but have found the adjustments to Motorola's interface to be modest at best. I loved the HTC classic clock/weather widget but there are plenty of weather programs that can mimic that and are more accurate. I use Beweather and it's clock\weather widget compares favorably with HTCs. I can still do almost all of the things with the Maxx that I could with the DINC, including folders, shortcuts that will directly dial a contact or send a text message to it, shortcuts for web links, etc. Although cosmetically, HTC and Moto's interfaces are somewhat different, they are both solidly rooted in Android so you can pretty much get to the same place on each one.

Love the Maxx but I still try to take it out of sleep mode by pushing the top button, which isn't there on the Maxx.

Same here! Really the only thing I REALLY REALLY miss is TV Out. I had the cables and used my DINC at work (I work EMS) to watch netflix on the TV in my station during downtime. Other than that, wasn't tough to get used to the Maxx at all. As others said, only thing I constantly do is try to push the button on the top of phone which isn't there

It does have an HDMI out plug. I know because I've tried to stick the power cable in there several times. That doesn't work?

If its like the Droid x only video from the video camera will stream through that port if I remember correctly. Netfix. Won't stream out to the TV through the HD out port

I really liked the way Facebook integrated with my contacts to link their pictures as well. I tried an ICS Rom ported from the Nexus and it just seemed too plain to me. If HTC was coming out with something epic soon I would probably wait. But I see no phones that interest me.

Im still waiting for an Otterbox. I hear you can at least feel the power switch with that. Right now most of the time I have it upside down and end up pushing on the memory card holder.

Just got a Commuter Case today, it does indeed make the side buttons much easier to use

Lucky! Verizon here keeps saying they are on backorder. I have to wait because they warranty them for the life of the phone. And the way I break the belt clips off, I'll get my moneys worth.

Bummer!!! Not much use for the HDMI out then...I could have swore the guy that sold me the phone said you could watch things like netflix with it. I'm probably wrong though. Poor listening skills:confused:

Once my upgrade date came due at the end of last year, I began to dig deep to try and find my next "Incredible" phone. Basically, it had to be a significant upgrade in order for me to relinquish a phone that had been damn good by me for the better part of two years.

To me, the Incredible's biggest downfall was its shoddy battery life - even its 2150mAh extended battery that I was using would often require a bump charge at some point in the early evening hours in order to get me through the day. :(

Enter the Maxx! Having owned this phone for just three weeks now, I have quite literally forgotten all about how good the Incredible was, since the Maxx eclipses it on ALL levels. With that said, here are the noticeable advantages that the Maxx has over the Incredible:

1) SUPERIOR battery life. 'Nuff said!

2) Damn solid build quality. The non-removable battery means no creaky, detachable back! The Maxx simply feels like one would want their phone to feel.

3) 4.3" screen as compared to the Incredible's 3.7". For those out there, like me, who don't tote around a tablet or a laptop, this is an awesome upgrade.

4) The phone itself. I have been able to make and receive calls in places where my Incredible would not.

5) Gorilla Glass and Kevlar backing. This thing is one tough nut to crack!

6) Smart Actions. For those of you who haven't delved into this feature, I HIGHLY recommend it! You can literally customize just about anything you can think of, and once you do, it is slick!!!

So to anyone out there who still has their Incredible and is wondering what the next best device out there is - look no further. The Maxx has it all!

I'm looking to upgrade my Incredible that I've had for a year now and the Razr Maxx looks to be the front runner. I'm looking to upgrade for the 4G and faster processer. To comment on your points above.

1. I have the Seidio 3500 mAh battery and I'm getting 14-20 hours enough to last the day.

2. I like this point of not having a creaky back and that the SD card slot is
on the side of the Razr

3. Screen size is personal preference. I'll probably like the bigger screen but not the overall bigger phone. I guess you get used to it.

4. I haven't had too much trouble with calls here in NY but then again Motorola radios are supposed to be the best.

5. The Incredible has been very durable. I've dropped it numerous times and according to Corning, it has Gorilla Glass

6. I have Tasker installed. It was $6 but does all that Smart Actions does and probably more. There's a learning curve with Tasker though

If I could add 4g and a dual core to the Incredible, I'd buy another one!

Great thanks for the comment. I think I might go with the Maxx if HTC doesnt come out with something quick. The Galaxy just seems to have too many problems. My buddy just loves it though...

Hey Smurfe I found this thread. It works...yahoooo!!! At least they said it did.

I have been an HTC loyalist for a long time. Had the Eris, then the Incredible, then the Thunderbolt, then the Incredible 2, and now (albeit for about 10 hours), the Maxx. And my wife has the Rhyme which is a great device.

I love sense and really struggled with the Rezound versus Maxx decision.

I just got done setting everything up (well, mostly) on the new Maxx. I gotta tell ya, this blur-light is really nice. It isn't quite as polished as sense but there are several features that sense doesn't have that are really cool -- like swipe to delete an email for example. I also like the contact widget and all my contact pictures are now populated (the FB ones anyway). The FB widget isn't as pretty but it is much more responsive when downloading updates and then details (comments and likes) when you click on a post. Sense is pretty, but I think Moto has the functionality nailed.

I played around with smart actions and I think there is a lot of potential there. More on that and the battery as I spend a few days with it.

I did connect my bluetooth mouse and bluetooth keyboard to it simultaneously and they work great. I will try out the webtop adapter this weekend.

The only negative is the form factor. A little wide so it might take some time to get used to. And the volume rocker is about four times to small! What's the logic on that?

Oh, and GPS is super fast on this thing.

Can't wait to see how the battery performs. I will try to post again when I have that data.

At this point, I wouldn't hesitate one bit leaving HTC. I'm relieved because I think I've read half the net in my comparison searches. Good luck. Hope this helps.

I made the switch. and am loving the Maxx. The only adjustment I'm having any trouble with is getting used to the Menu and Home screen buttons being reversed.

Thanks for your feedback! Here are my counterpoints, for what its worth! :)

1. I have the Seidio 3500 mAh battery and I'm getting 14-20 hours enough to last the day. Yes, but now you have an uber-thick phone! What's the point in getting a sleek, new smartphone if you have to put a backpack on it just to get you through the day?

2. I like this point of not having a creaky back and that the SD card slot is
on the side of the Razr. The whole creaky back thing drove me nuts! It might as well have been made by Fisher-Price.

3. Screen size is personal preference. I'll probably like the bigger screen but not the overall bigger phone. I guess you get used to it. Agreed. It took me a little while to get used to it, but now there's NO WAY I'd go to anything smaller.

4. I haven't had too much trouble with calls here in NY but then again Motorola radios are supposed to be the best. Moto makes the BEST radios, hands down!

5. The Incredible has been very durable. I've dropped it numerous times and according to Corning, it has Gorilla Glass. I have yet to read ANYTHING which states that the Incredible has Gorilla Glass. No where in its specs does it say that.

6. I have Tasker installed. It was $6 but does all that Smart Actions does and probably more. There's a learning curve with Tasker though. Haven't tried Tasker, so I can't comment on it. I would say that Smart Actions is very good for the average user, like me.

If I could add 4g and a dual core to the Incredible, I'd buy another one! Yup, and then you'd have that battery sucked dry that much faster!
