Root optimius v sg3 rom port???

Okay, so I've been messing around with the cm9 port and I don't think it could come from a galaxy phone without a lot of work. Because I've tried two of them, and the rom will boot, but it goes directly into fastboot mode and the partition layouts for the galaxy's are completely different, so the updating scripts are way different. I'm gonna play around with a cm7 rom for the LG Optimus Black and see if that's any better.

do not know slutyman. not a programmer. but considering that the m is of the same lineage as the elite, there are bound to be more similarities in the devices than what you would find when trying to port something from a device that isnt similar. meaning less to change. or at least thats the theory.

i really want to learn to develope and give to the comunitty cause all i do is take now it is my turn to give and let other ppl take

im sure you will do well if you apply your self to it. i have never had the desire to program since many many years ago when doing some similar stuff on the sega dreamcast video game system. once upon a time i actually was caught up in it deeply. i can recall porting the japanese web browser for the game system to english with enhancements galore. was a massive task i have to say and took a large team of people along with my self to see it happen. a lot of drama also lol. but we got it done. she had broadband access, dialup and could surf the web and save pages and media to the memory card. she even had themes built in that were interchangeable. then we took it to the next level and used one of segas demo disc boot loaders and added demo games, development community games and the original english web browser from planetweb along with dreampassport all to one easy to use disc. but since then, ive not really cared much to delve into anything like it since. have fun with this. thats the key. when egos, etc get in the way. it becomes a chore and not worth doing. thats my experience.

what would i have to change to port it??

It seems like the update script is the biggest thing to me. Also, the app, font, framework, and media folders inside /system/ have to be replaced with ones from an elite ROM. And also the libandroid_runtime.so inside /system/lib has to be replaced with an oe one.

I can get cm7 to boot, but it's only for a second before it reboots. I think the updater script is gonna have to be completely rewritten, because it's way too different to just plug in the partition names and ms3 into the right spots.
