Root Optimus Elite root with an apk

I must be a ******.

I use the Poot... all works great. I use the root checker that says its rooted. I try super User, and that fails.

go back to the root checker and it says its not rooted?

Try activating the phone, and try pooting again. Then try downloading Super User (the actual app), and let it update the Superuser binary. Reboot, and all should be well.

so some how i managed to get root. dont know how.

but i tried activating it, and now neither phone works, I tried calling them, but it hangs up on and tells me to call them. go figure. lol

Then, if possible, try to do a factory reset by rebooting the phone, and hold down the Volume Down ( - ) key until your phone boots into recovery, and select a factory reset with the volume keys and the power button. Reboot, and try activating again, and see if that works.

Hello, fairly new to the forums here, but I've been browsy for a while. I have a ZTE Fury at the moment, and through my research I've found little to no data on how to root it, minus a few instances of using poot to work via the cherry method. However, I have Ministro II installed, as well as the instance of Poot, but when I press "Press here to poot", the phone freezes, and I have to take out/replace battery. USB Debug is on and connected, and I believe I have everything set up properly. Any suggestions?

What was the old phone?

Have you checked the mdn and msid with ##virgin#, to see if they were written properly with the activation app? Check to see if the mdn and msid from the old phone match the newly activated phone.

Try uninstalling poot and reinstalling it, first. If it doesn't work try the other versions of poot, worst they could do is not work also.

Lastly try the older version of Ministro, instead of Ministro II, just in case.

Hey Sneaky_1, I tried all of the above steps, all have done the exact same thing. reset to factory defaults, but still, no avail. Any other ideas?

It may take multiple tries to root. I've read people in other forums here saying their device finally gained root after the 10th try. I would just keep trying.

Hey MacFett. I counted twenty tries, but have done a few more since then. I'm unsure on which exact version they used, but I am led to believe it was the W100 one. I've tried both, that one and the one in the included files. I've used the others as well, just not as many times. Not sure what's going wrong here though..

This was the OP that got me excited that it would be capable. Giantpune posted on it saying it may be compatible, and the girl on there got it to work.

Edit: Well, I had more progress than I have at least. "Done pooting." Posted to the log, rather than the blank space I usually get. However, nothing was posted before it, so it did nothing but post that for false hopes it seems.

Ive used poot for the VM Venture with success for the Hauewi fusion Orginal

ive used poot W100 with sucess for the hauewi fusion 2 & the Kyocera Rise And i beleieve there useing it for the Kyocera Event ,

Ive also used the Poot W100 sucessfully with the At&t Pantech Crossover & Verizon Pantech Breakout ,& At&t Fusion 2

Sometimes you have too hit Poot more then once though incase some people try and get errors theres other phones ive used poot on i myself owned the venture hated that phone, and i used the same poot for virgin venture on a old At&t Thrive that my mom had before she dropped it in the tub , but defiantly Poot is a Miracle Root
So Thank You Giantpune

even made sure to go back to post 1 too hit the thank you button

I tried this poot on galaxy mini 2 S6500D.

First time attempt to tap "press here to poot", my phone was blank and reboot immediately.
I check su file not pushed in /system/xbin.

Reboot my phone manually, and open poot again...
This time poot show debug text, instead of suddenly reboot my phone.

It say :

2012 giantpune
[+] opened device
[+] Set logging mode
[+] Resolved symbols
[+] Mapped 0x10000000
[+] Hooked 0xc02fcf6c
[-] Error running kernel-mode code
[-] Failed to clean up our mess
[-] Current && current != last + 1: 0000ffff 0000ffff
[-] Haxx has run its coarse. Reboot the device to play again

A demon materialized while pooting. Error code: 87
su binary was not written
You need to restart your device

Second attempt without reboot, produce error 22.

Did it had any chance to root my phone?
I know It was used for Cherry W100, but aleast it nearly identical to Mini 2. Thats why I test poot.

Google

galaxy mini 2 S6500D root

You will find the method to root your phone.

BOb
Yes, I already know how to root this phone using CWM.
If samsung doesnt have a custom bin counter, I will go for that.

This exploit worked on my mini 2. Using h866c version. Already tried other version but failed. Thanks giantpune.

I posted a TUT on XDA to root this phone.

Here is the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40331664#post40331664

With that, Iam asking your permission too giantpune.
If you dont want me to post a TUT there, I will delete it.

Thank you so much...

Just a general question. Will Poot ever receive a update?

The reason I ask is to find out if the Sprint root process will get cleaned up.

The sprint process? Poot should be working on sprint models of the Elite that are running the stock kernel. All of the version of the kernel I released have the Poot bug fixed, so it will never work on phones running those kernels.

I'm not saying it didn't work. At the very end of the root process, it shows errors. It's been mentioned in the thread. I was curious if the script would be updated to avoid those errors.

After a couple of noob mistakes, I got root using giantpune's method. Big thanks, giantpune! I posted on another related thread, but my mistake was forgetting to uncheck the 'Unknown Sources' tab which blocked non market apps from being installed. I unchecked, and then proceeded to install/run poot, then downloaded superuser and rootcheck, and it worked like a charm.

Again like I told you before. It has to BE checked to install apps from sources other then Google Play and Amazon Store I believe.

No, there probably won't be any more updates to Poot. I was one of the people plagued by non-working data issues and got tired of dealing with VM's customer service. I switched to net10 and a Note2, and my Elite got hand-me-down'd to a 50yr old relative who wouldn't be using the data anyways.
