Help Optimus F7 Microphone

Newbie
Not sure if this can be fixed or if i just got a faulty device.
When I'm making a call, incoming or outgoing,
I can hear the person on the other end just fine. but they hear me as if I'm far away and in a can or wind tunnel. I have switched phones and varified that its pretty awful to be on the other end, it also echos a bit for the other person.
I tried the built in voice recorder app and it records normally for a phone.
i tried the echo test for skype and its quiet as well, less harsh with speakerphone enable but very quiet.
i have tried restarting, powering off and back on, and even a factory reset to no change.

I've seen some other phones that have a hidden menu where you can change the gain settings on the phone
The only functional hidden settings i can find are
3845#*870# which has a sound settings with loop backs options(seems to change nothing)
*#*#4636#*#* which seems useless except for data, battery and wifi.

These menus don't appear to have the options as seen with other phones like the nexus 4 or droid bionic.
My Optimus is out of the box less than 3 days old from boost's website.
would i be able to walk in a boost store for an exchange or would i need to get an RMA going?

i really want this phone; so that would suck if the phone is like that. but i may be a bad device; i would get it checked out

I have been having the same problem, No one that I call can ever hear me.

I tried using a VOIP and it worked perfectly. it is definitely something regarding cell phone tower reception and service I am thinking.

I have been trying boosters with no luck, I wish the F7 had more advanced call settings, like noise reduction.

I hope we can find a solution because I doubt anyone would replace the phone seeing as its not broke. will be calling around today. try to update later.

It does have noise reduction through the use of the two microphones (one on top one on the bottom), other than this defect, everything else with the phone is pretty satisfying.
I'm fairly certain i just have one faulty microphone in my phone.
voice recorder works, calls where its up to my ear do not.
speakerphone works better, than up to the ear, but not great.

I'll be going to a local store to try to do an exchange tomorrow, *crosses fingers*
hope i can sort of buy one and return the one i have so i don't have to wait 5-7 days +3 days to get it to lg for repair/replacement.

That or return to boost website, wait for up to 8 weeks to get my card refunded. Then buy another. Since boost mobiles site does not do exchanges it would be a return and re-purchase.

maybe with lg i might get hardware rev >1.0

i just want a non faulty device.

So I'm not really sure what happened,
but in trying to troubleshoot the semi functional microphone,
i tried to use microphone app by wonder grace, it said channels were blocked, wouldn't allow it to work.
then I downloaded z device test and it shows the microphone as pefectly fine but said its mono(odd to me), it made some bars on a graph when i spoke.
i downloaded another microphone app, by gaz this time, plugged in some headphones, and heard my self digitized.
So i was like this is just wrong, tried the skype echo/sound test with a headset, worked fine.
tried it again without the headset, worked fine.
turned off proximity sensor, enabled wide voice extension, and it sounds like a normal phone.
I haven't called anyone again yet, but i see this as a plus,
Here's to crossing my fingers that it stays fine.

I'm having the same issues. I have noticed that when I put the phone on speaker they hear me as normal on the other end, I think it had to be software related.

I'm gonna return this phone to radio shack for a replacement, this will be the fourth one so far.. I'm really disappointed in lg with this one. Great phone just too many paralyzing issues...

Maybe disabling the noise reduction might help. How do you do that? No idea yet lol. Probably need to edit phone.apk when I get the phone.

I recently returned a F7 to Radio Shack for a refund because it was randomly resetting all the homescreens to the original factory setup. It did this 3 times in a one week period. I didn't have any problems with the mic or call quality though.

Good point.

Not sure why but I wasn't committed to the F7. I'm leaning toward the Warp 4G but I'm waiting for all the Black Friday ads to leak. Probably will get something that weekend...or Monday. I see that Radio Shack will have the F7 on BF for $50 less than I paid two weeks ago...so I could get it again and save money:)

Oh God don't go with the Warp 4G, zte sucks man. they never do crap right. This will be their 3rd warp and im not saying everything should be perfect but with zte its not even on an acceptable level lol. Those clowns cant even release a kernel source without something going wrong. Point blank they are disorganized and always tend to screw a few things up. Im not saying lgs perfect either but its only a matter of time before the bugs are fixed. I mean only gps and for some people call quality sucks, those can be fixed Via an update but at least the phone is performing at its best you know? no lags etc. i'll tell you now you'll get some lags here and there for now reason with the warp lol. Besides, its a downgrade from the f7. the F7 has a better processor not to mention its clocked at a high ghz than the warp 4g. Bigger screen and better battery life plus im sure you'll miss a few lg features like quick memo or the notification Toogle bar for fast access to certain settings since zte disabled the notification toogles in their sources.

I'm still using the original Warp and I've been on custom ROMs so long (right now HaloBean) that I've forgotten how bad unrooted stock was. Thanks for reminding me. ;)
