Help Optimus M wont go into recovery mode

When i try to get into recovery mode the screen just turns black. I have done it repeatedly and yet it doesnt work. Can someone help me?

Are you holding the home, Vol down, and power buttons ASL at the same time? What I do is use the thumb on my left hand and hold the home button, then the thumb on my right hand and hold the Vol down. Lastly I USSR my right index finger to push and hold the power button until I see ours in recovery. If you let go too early, it'll boot, or if you don't have an operating system on it you might get a boot loop or maybe even a blank screen.
 
Are you rooted? If so this thread will need to be moved. Also if you are rooted, reflash recovery.
