Optimus V Appreciation

Good point. I guess when you look closely at the map, it covers most major metropolitan areas, as well as most major Interstates. It's the real rural areas where there's nothing. But from a population standpoint, I guess that's a pretty small percentage.

I think the only time I had an issue was when I went to pinetop (small town in the mountains north of Phoenix) and it would go in and out-but that was about it.

I love my Optimus! First smartphone, had it about 2-3 weeks, and already I'm wondering how I ever did without it :) Every day it manages to amaze me at least once with all the cool stuff it can do.

I liked it when it was working. But I couldn't deal with the 3g issues. I need my internet. At all times. So now I am happier (but much broker) with at&t. But THERE IS FLASH AVAILABLE!!!! I see a lot of people don't know. Download skyfire browser, it is a godsend. Of course, the videos are almost as laggy as youtube, unless you have wifi access.

Ah, that's not really flash. Skyfire uses an intermediate server to convert video to something that a basic Android device can playback... both video codec conversion, size, and HTML5ization IIRC.

Kind of sucked when I tried it too, as if a page had a ton of video skyfire would just get bogged down and take forever to finish loading... It was just easier to make do with the youtube app and some other browser(except opera which I also detest).

Besides not having flash isn't all that bad... it's incredibly tedious to attempt to control flash items using a touchscreen only interface...

Had mine for six weeks, coverage has been great. But, even if I ever do leave coverage, the only feature I can't do without until I get back into coverage is navigation, for which I have CoPilot Live!

But I must complain about the network locking up once every few days. It is always fixed by cycling through airplane mode, but it is still very disappointing when it happens, especially once you fix it and the background apps gobble up resources because they have not synced for who knows how long.

HI Everyone, I've been a lurker for 2 months but now I've officially joined. I used to be a VM customer from 2003 thru 2007 then as cellphone technology advanced I switched to a big girl 2 year committment with AT&T. Anyway, it turned out to be the biggest regret of my life and I couldn't do anything fun on my cellphone but txt and talk. I was so tired of being financially raped by AT&T that when I saw an advertisement on the internet that the LG Optimus V Smartphone from VM was released and I saw all your awesome posts of all the fun you guys were having at an affordable rate with no 2 year committment contract that I decided to go out and buy me the LG Optimus V and go back to VM. I have to say I am having the time of my life, I love my LG Optimus V and I love being back with VM, It feels like I've gone back to my old lover. This is my first smartphone and I'm having so much fun, I can play games, surf the internet, check my email, listen to music, go on youtube, watch movies, go on FB, chat with my friends, download all kinds of fun apps and all for only $25 per month! Also I want to add that all your post have been totally helpful for me while I was trying to learn how to figure out how to use my new smartphone and figure out which is the best app for this or that. You guys rock thanks! Anyway its great to be back with VM and I am totally in love my LG Optimus V smartphone:)

I'm loving my phone, though it's a bit overwhelming getting into all the apps & things. (First smartphone). As far as the basics, though... it's easier for me to call someone from my cell than from my landline & I've got better sound on calls. And all my friends with other types of phones are jealous of my Swype.

So, can't complain, especially for the price. I browsed other carriers & I was looking at like $70 a month plus a contract for the same type of service. I've been using Virgin for years with my crummy old phone & haven't had coverage problems anywhere except middle-of-nowhere Texas while traveling. VM customer service can be a bit... variable, but that's mostly while getting things set up. Once everything is good-to-go, no problems.

And, as others said, thanks to everyone here for being so helpful as I'm learning.

Well, I don't know about" love"- but it sure is the best toy I ever got!-- and it even has practical application to boot!

I sure don't love the customer service or the web site- ( what were the corporate brains thinking -- they post a list of questions,----
Can the Optimus... how do I ....
with answers of--
yes, no maybe, it depends, this way, that way, no way.....???

And then a list of questions with " there is no approved answer as yet"
:rolleyes::eek:

But-- if it wasn't for a Smart phone with a $25 a month plan, I wouldn't have any smart phone at all. Do I wish it had a front facing camera, more memory, a slide out keyboard, a 4" screen---sure. Wish I had a new car too!

But for now I'll settle for Skype over 3G and no imaginable reason to ever spend more than $25 a month. I'll put the savings toward a new phone when they roll them out.

And if I have a question, Ill come here and skip customer service.
