Help Optimus V Comes With Screen Protector?

A user at Howard Forums is reporting he was able to peel the demo screen over the Optimus screen from a clear panel under it that can serve as a screen protector supplied with the phone. Mine got tossed yesterday when the RS people did my install, but new buyers might want to check for that and see if they can save and use that screen protector.

I'm betting that's the pull tab being referred to over the screen...and I can at least confirm the mock display panel is separate...I actually saved that...hah.

That is true. I just salvaged mine from the "almost in the trash" pile. Thanks for the info.

Yeah...if you know that when you get the phone...you never have to peel it...and those are the best ones...wish I had mine...but...c'est la vie

I'm glad I saw this forum before I unboxed mine... I just used a tiny scissors to snip off the T-shaped tab at the top of the clear film, and voil

Dang it, stupid BB guy took mine off. At least he called VM for me and got my number ported. I hate making calls to deal with "Alex".

For those who kept the original screen protector, do you find it difficult to type? It feels as if my screen is really inaccurate, and I constantly make mistakes when typing with my thumbs even when I type slowly. I'd have expected better results from a capacitive touch screen.

not really im using the original one that i cut the tab off of, works great. i mostly use swipe with the phone vertical and even when i do press keys its pretty accurate

I actually type better with the "factory film" on the screen.

Although, I have to type with my pinky.

this screen is just to small to "thumbs" type.

Well, maybe I am just too used to resistive touchscreens like the one on my previous Nokia. Resistive touchscreen allowed me to use my fingertips to swype, giving me more precision. Now it seems I need to learn how to press with the flat of my finger so that it is well-centered on the key. I am still getting about 1 in 5 characters wrong. If you guys have any tricks to get more accuracy let me know!

Aw, I saw this too late! Mine got all dusty. I could probably get elaborate and soak it in something.. then redo the glue. Yea right :P Really a shame they didn't make it clear (hah a pun) that it was on there.. Oh well.. maybe i could stalk the trash at a Radio Shack.

Yea, I was gonna save mine but the Best Buy guy threw it away. I had to go swap my phone out after 2 days because my wiring on my first one was swapped.

When I hit the back button, it turned down the volume. When I hit the volume button... well you get the picture.

I don't know why but I found the faster you swype the better the precision is. I could type out something like I was completely drunk and it'd still work.

Thank you to everyone in this thread! Before I registered to the forums and got my phone in the mail, I searched around for recommendations (because I had a bad experience purchasing crappy protectors for my previous phone), and this thread was one of the top search results! Except for a somewhat big bubble I can't get rid of on the bottom-right corner, I love the factory-installed protector :D

Which leads me to ask.. does anyone know if similar protectors are sold? I'd like to order a few, just in case..

you don't need to redo the glue, you could try rubbing alcohol or an astringent it will clean it off and make the glue fresh again. this is what i did after i peeled my back off the book that i had stuck it on after stumbling across this post :D
