Optimus V screen protector and Silicom case?

Screen protectors for the Optimus S fit the V...a lot of people like the Zagg Invisible Shield Best Buy sells...

I'm inclined to buy inexpensive ones from eBay and add a little moisture when I apply them to get the bubbles out...much like window film installers do. Please don't do what I do unless you know how and use a minimal amount of moisture...I don't want anyone wrecking their phone. I use a normal size SD card as my squeegee to press the bubbles out. Cheesy, but it works.

As far as cases go, there is a thread here on it and some on other forums as well. A lot of people seem to prefer the TPU cases over the silicone ones in that style of slim fitting case because the TPU case doesn't pick up lint/dirt like the silicone ones do. There are cheaper silicone cases out there.

I use the Body Glove case because I like the thicker profile and the button/kickstand it comes with, but that's just me.

Is the sensitivity to touch vastly reduced? I applied a Zaggs equivalent to a Zune HD and my touch does not register well. Though I don't recall how it was before the skin was applied. I used a lot of water mixture, and the surface still looks ripply months later when viewed from an angle with the screen off.

Or do you think a regular screen protector would be more sensitive?

As far as technique: there's a post down a bit on this link that gives steps to install a Zaggs invisibleSHIELD or equivalent. To avoid stretching, as he mentions in his step 7, whenever I felt drag when pushing out bubbles, I just dipped the card into the bowl of warm water & detergent, i.e., I kept the surface wet.

I also use the cheap ebay ones. You can get about 5 protectors for $6.00 . I've had my phone about 1 mon. and still have the cheap protector on and it is in good shape. Plus if you mess it up during the install a $1.00 is better than $12 or more for the others. For the case I went with a $7.00 case. It works and looks great. If you are going to leave it in your pocket I would recommend the hard case because the rubberized ones are hard to get out of the pocket. Ebay has several cases and protectors that sell together for about $6 to $7. They should do you fine ....

Worst one ever in my opinion.
It fits well, but as the box says, it "improves grip". This is bad for sliding your finger across the screen, as it jumps instead of sliding smooth. It's nice in that it self heals from damage, but it's a good thing because it's so soft that it damages easily.

I preferred the cheap one I had on my BB to this, at least your finger could slide across it.

And yes, I'm sure I lost some sensitivity. I'm very close to ordering some cheap Ebay ones to replace it. And to think Best Buy wanted another $7 to install it. After tax it would have been $30 for the protector. Not worth it.

Think about it, it's a thick, clear sticker. $20, for that?
Never again.

Can you guys point me to which eBay protectors you've picked up? I want to know I'm buying something that won't leave anything sticky in case they don't work... and to make sure they fit properly.

Seller "lcd-protectors" on eBay. Got them for my digital camera and they were so good I got them for my "V" also. They are the 3-layer ones. Got the 5-pack since they were so cheap. Am going to get them for all my devices that have a screen even if not a touch screen.

Thanks, I picked up the screen protectors from that seller, as well as the crystal gel case listed in the first post. I can't wait, since my original protector (that came with the phone, which I also accidentally trashed before seeing I could use it as a protector) is starting to peel.

Im using these:

Amazon.com: 5x LG Optimus S LS670 Premium Clear LCD Screen Protector Shield Cover Guard Film Kit, no cutting is required! Exact fit and satisfaction guaranteed!: Cell Phones & Accessories

No difference in touch sensitivity and cheap enough to replace every month or so.

Silicone case - I got one of these:

Amazon.com: LG Optimus S LS670 (Sprint) Silicone Skin Case, Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

but only used it for a day. I find cases too bulky and prefer a naked phone when it comes to cases.

I ordered a Skinomi w/ lifetime replacement for $8.95. Comes with a big vile of their solution to install the screen. Installed very easily. Nice so far. No problems to report.

Happy so far. Easy to have my finger glide across, seems nice and thick to protect the screen... and screen doesn't lose any integrity.
