Help Optimus V Sound Problem

I have been enjoying my Optimus V since June. Just today I noticed that the front speaker makes a static mumbling noise when listening to someone else. I adjusted the volume, restarted, etc. and still had no luck. I contacted Virgin Mobile for a replacement. Does it sound like a bad speaker? Are these kind of things common? Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for your replies! It is so weird. It seems to be working a lot better now. I only notice the vibrating sound if I put it up to full volume. I will still keep my eye on it.
