Help Optimus V - Triumph

If I use the Optimus V as a hotspot and connect the Triumph with the WiFi to it, will the speed that the Triumph uses be the Triumph's speed or the Optimus V? Yes, tech. challanged here, don't be mean. Thank you.

Since I can see you have the Optimus V and the Triumph. How are you liking them? I kind of want to switch to the Triumph, but they're pretty expensive. What do you think?

I switched from the OV to the Triumph. I much prefer the Triumph, it has much higher specs. The only things I miss are the physical keys and the camera button.

I don't have the triumph yet - should get it this week. I'm just trying to figure out how to set it up and test it etc. before I change the VM plan over. Lots of not so good reviews but I want a big screen. I don't do games and music, just want to Netflix some, you tube, email. If it does this with no problems then I'll think I have a great phone.

Yeah I definitely like the idea of having higher specs and having flash. I have heard a lot of buggy ones though so maybe not so good? what do you think? And I don't really use the camera button, but it is nice to wake up my phone with the physical keys at the bottom... darn.

Oh, I got it from Amazon for $225. I have a hotspot set up on the Optimus and before I get yelled at, I only use this to run my iPad on a trip looking for gas, hotel, food etc., the Optimus is too much of a strain on my eyes, old don't ya know! I dont need the hotspot at home, I have a wifi plan for the tv and laptops.

I should get it this week. I've read some reviews where some people have a lot of problems with the phone and some love it, for me the verdict's not in yet. $225 would be a great price for a smartphone if it works for me on the things I want to do. If not, I'll return it and wait till the next big screen to come along.

Oh ok, do you think it's worth 225? I mean for how long you have had it, do you like it?

I paid just over $300 for my after taxes and I wish I got it for cheaper, but I think its worth the $300 I paid. I haven't had any major issues with the phone itself, just VM service sucks at least in my area...

i payed like $335ish for mine.... i got it when they first came out though :D

So I too got the $120 Triumph when they had the sale after Xmas. My colleague and girlfriend bought the Optimus V. Both are great phones, here's my list of perks:

Triumph:
HDMI Out (Froyo 2.2 only; 2.3 ROMs break it)
Bigger/480p Screen
Nicer Camera
Faster Specs (1ghz/512RAM); overclockable to 1.4 (safely)

Optimus:
Wayyyy more development for this lil guy
Smaller, so more "smaller hands" friendly and way less bulky in pocket
Overclockable to get decent specs (up to 900mhz I believe)
More reliable (in my opinion; less crashes/hung apps)
Gingerbread supported from manufacturer

I've rooted and installed Froyocream Sandwich on my Triumph and it kicks the stock ROM's ass. However, having random issues with Bluetooth enabling killing my wireless signal entirely. Have to toggle Airplane mode to fix. I hear ICS is in the works for Triumph though, so hopefully that brings good tidings to us Triumphers! Just my 2 cents, I doubt you'll see ICS on the Optimus, but if you like a smaller phone, it's still a great device.

OH! And PS: I would NEVER pay $300 for a Triumph. It's worth $200 max. IMO

Lol okay, and you said it is gingerbread ready from the manufacturer?? Could you post a video of the froyocream ROM you have it sounds amazing!! I have a heavily ICS themed ROM thats gingerbread based but that's about it. If I can get ICS on the triumph I am definitely switching! lol
