Orange 2.2 update

I'm pleased that Orange has got it together - it might be worth them updating their web page to explain the process as it will save may from trawling the internet for the answer.

If you are running version 1.15 software you will need to go to settings:about phone:software update and check for upgrades. This will let you download version 1.22; once this is downloaded you will then be able to repeat the process and upgrade to version 2.2.

My Hotspot was not working either but I am posting this on my Mac connected to my HTC Hotspot as I clicked on manage users and then clicked on my computer's name in the connected users box.

Try it and let me know if this was a fluke or not?

Both updates have gone through fine. Liking the improvements to the calendar (linking to contact's birthdays, public holidays etc). The flashlight is good too.

Why the fcuk does Orange think that I want a flashlight app on my phone? They should get rid of it along with all the demos that are on there.

You mean the HTC flashlight....? Read the small print! It's better than the one I had downloaded from the market.

It may say HTC on the shaft and be better than the one you downloaded, but if I wanted one I would've downloaded it myself.

Just received this email from Orange, despite having already updated to 2.2

Thank you for your email regarding your phone.

I can advise that the latest firmware update for the Android operating system is not currently available on Orange.

The reason it can take a bit longer for Orange to have the latest firmware available is because with an Orange branded phone there is Orange software on it as well.
Because of this we need to make sure that the firmware update is compatible with the Orange software so it does not hinder you using your phone.

I can confirm that the 1.15.61.10 has been delayed due to compatibility issues and we are looking forward to making it available within the coming weeks

If the update is not compatible we will not release it and we will try to get an update available that will work.

That's a HTC app and not an Orange one. All versions of 2.2 have it

I have to say that a day after downloading 2.2 I was in the back of a very dark van looking for some tools when I remembered the flashlight app.

Don't stress about it...you get flashlights on pretty much all mobiles these days.

Has any one had issues with the 2.17.61.2 update?

gf phone keeps loading when you go to the home page?

only started happening after the update was done. I did put the system panal lite on and couple other apps - but have removed them now to see if was any of them causing the issue

But no difference, still happening.

any advice before i do a factory reset?

Yes, I have had the exact same issue ever since the update!

yeah - she only had the phone tuesday - this update come thurs/friday

since then its been doing this loading when you go to home screen

want some thoughts before i factory reset the phone

it doesnt happen all the time

but for example she can send a tx message, then click the home button, a loading icon appears swirling round for about 30 secs then the home page is avalible

she can be going from window to window, when she gets back to the home main page, it comes up with the load thing

In which case, nothing like that at all I'm afraid. Only thing I've noticed is the keyboard seems a little slower to respond to my bad typing. (I've been watching everything carefully since you posted about issues!)

well did a factory reset last night

still on version 2.17.61.2 ? thought it may go back

well within first 5 mins, htc sence forced closed lol typical

There is another OTA update. It updates the phone to 2.17.61.3 and in the update it says that there are updates for the android market. Has anyone else updated? I am on orange branded desire btw.

I see the Android Market has now changed. It seems a lot more sluggish than previous versions though.

i've been in france for the last 3 months so not updated my phone until now

it started off telling me the update was there, but i wasnt connected to wifi so said no at first, now im all set to update it but my phone says there is no update available - any ideas what to do?? thanks

They realy ar rediculus!!!!!! 2011 in france and still no comming up on the update scree. It was suposed. to arrive in summer 2010!! Arrrggggg...
