spike-57

Lurker
Overview
Cant send or receive MMS using a HTC Desire S handset with orange.

Works with my old HC Handset (HTC HD) so suggest handset specific.

Send
I get notification of someone trying to send me MMS but wont download, "Generic network failure..." error message.

Receive
Sits in unsent

Texts ok, Internet Ok after manual setup and Phone calls OK.

Right, ive tried to get the majority of the obvious bits tested before posting, anyone with a similar problem may find the below useful as it appears to work for some and not others.

APN from orange
Name: Orange MMS
APN
: orangemms
MMSC: http://mms.orange.co.uk/
MMS proxy: 192.168.224.10
MMS port
: 8080
Username: Orange
Password:
Multimedia
APN type:
mms

I've rang Orange who asked me to test a proxy of (
192.168.224.010)

Tried turning off the various reports and setting priority to high as suggested here:
HTC Desire - picture messages wont send

This did not help me (the above is not my post).

I have also tried turning off all other types of connection that are not in use as suggested by orange tech and on various forums, specifically noted was the wifi.

General notes for others with same problem
T-Mobile seem to have a habit of not adding MMS to your usage plan so a phone call to them may fix.

HTC Desire's as a whole don't seem to like adding APN details automatically Orange (Orange Setup) is the link to oranges details.

So any ideas!?

Have Orange tried to send you an MMS? When you call Orange Customer Services again, ask them to do that. They may find out something helpful on their side. They should also be able to send you the correct settings to your phone, which I take it you've already been through.

The APN settings you've given (you missed out a few) are the same as I have.

Did you port your number from another network provider? The port might not have transferred the MMS settings to your new Orange account.

Try changing the Network Mode in Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks. Give the GSM only and WCDMA only settings a go to receive and send MMS.

PS And make sure the Maximum message size is what you require. In Messages > Menu > Settings > Multimedia messages (MMS) > Maximum message size
