Orange PAC code

[matttye]

Has anybody on Orange ever requested a PAC code while you're still in a contract with them? Is this allowed?

Before anyone says ask them.. I will but I just wanted to get some opinions before I spend 20 minutes on hold

You can, but only if you're willing to end your contract and pay an early termination fee.

I did it just after Christmas.

Damn I was hoping I could carry on paying my contract but still port my number to another network.

No doesnt work like that, the idea of porting is so you can take your number with you when you finish your contract.

I've emailed to ask anyway, no harm in asking

no harm although technically if you take your number elsewhere you are leaving them so they will see it as a cancellation and you will have to pay an early termination fee

[SUroot]

Yeah, which is usually Line rental until the end of the contract period, all at once.

I've asked them to provide me with another sim card + new number and to let me port my current one due to the fact that I have no faith in their network and I've had my current number for 5+ years, long before I joined Orange.

Their network has actually gone seriously downhill since I first joined and it wasn't brilliant to begin with!!
