Orange UK Launch first week of June 2011

I just had a call from Orange, as i previously sent an email to sales asking when Samsung Galaxy S 2 will be available from their official shop.

I was told that "Soon".

So i expressed my disappointment and guy on the phone said he will go and double check. So he did.

Unofficially SGSII will be available in official Orange shops at the beginning of June 2011.

Will it have Orange bloatware on there? I dont think the GS did but man, my desire was crippled by the crap that they stuck on there!!!!!! :(

So if there is, its a deal breaker for me!

T-mobile officially have it in at the same time.

But many people are saying it's going to be in stock THIS friday. And well T-mobile (i don't think) put that much bloat ware. ON my desire, i think all I have is a "top Apps" app that I never use. It's small and never gets in the way. don't think I've actually ever opening it (apart from the first time I saw it on there)

Orange I've see though on the Desire S, haven't they got some kind of their own store or something??

I know there is always the ROM/Root route (ha ha) but if im honest id rather not. Puts a question mark over the insurance and the warranty and it can be a pita to sort... at least my Desire has been a PITA, running CyanogenMod 7 on that atm which is good but still a bit buggy.

Basically I want it stock, or at most have a orange splash start up. We'll see, like I said, I think the galaxy s got away with no meddling so fingers crossed the SII will too.

if you want it on orange just go get it from phones4u, they can do orange upgrades. Mines on orange and since phones4u carry gsm phones (unbranded) you are running stock samsung firmware.

same goes for T-Mobile, phones4u sell t-mobile contracts & upgrades... (not certain about the upgrades actually)

fair enough, i know when i rang o2 about doing my order as an upgrade they were offering me exactly the same as i could get in the phones4u store, no upgrade incentive even though i had been with them for 7 years, so i jumped ship!
Do you know if there are any limitations put on orange handsets through phones4u?

i think you can always root and use a custom rom.
if that's the correct terminology.

or you can forget rooting and just flash the Normal UK Stock firmware.

Mine came from CPW and as always they do stock. So it won't be a problem flashing it to that. Some on XDA already have.

I got mine as an upgrade on Orange a week ago. Trick is go to a third party retailer like phones4u or carphone warehouse rather than an Orange shop.

Got stock touchwiz on mine (no orange stuff apart from an app icon that loaded itself onto my phone about a day after I got it - but it made no difference to the UI/experience.)

mine didnt auto install the orange apps, but they are on the marketplace so you can pull them down anyway (handy for knowing where you are with your allowance)

I cant use your trick as i dont have contract, im on PAYG. I want to start one.

Will similar trick work for new contract? Have anyone tried it?
