Just popped into the Orange shop to enquire about the Xperia S and was told it will be another week before it's out. I got to hold the dummy phone and it was quite heavy, I have an Xperia X10 just now.

I asked the guy about the captive keys as I have read they are quite unresponsive and you have to press them a few times, but he said the phone he had played about with was fine.

About the keys, i used an xperia in the shop only had 10% battery left so it was a quick go.
They were a little unresponsive when I was trying to get the camera menu open.

Saying that, I used one that was on charge and they were spot on.

The phone appeared on the Orange website today, so I selected upgrade but the phone wasn't amongst the available phones. So when I selected to look at all monthly phones the following message came up

'We can see that you

Been calling Orange since Monday to see if it was in.. When I called yesterday evening it was indeed in stock for upgrade. Mine will be on its way tommorrow .. Can't wait to play about with it based on the reviews I've read so far.

Mine ordered too, should be here tomorrow. Had a good play in the shop and was impressed, no issues with buttons being unresponsive and seemed very functional. I'm coming from a rooted HTC Desire, so it has alot to live up to.

Orange were unable to match the Phones 4 U deal, so bought it from P4U but the phone is being supplied by their sister company, Dial A Phone.

I'm on that but it got a 60 pound cheque too.

i was told by phones4u i would get it as soon as they got it in stock, the website was quoting 14/03/2012, i got mine 5 days ago in the post.

Mine works fine, no response problems, im just in the simcard limbo period waiting for my new one to kick in so i still have to use the whackberry for a couple of days.

Orange will be the last people to have the phone, they were useless when i wanted my bold 9800 i had to go carphonewarehouse to get it because orange couldnt give me a date even though quite a few highstreet phoneshops had it in already

ridiculous, phones4u said to me DONT phone orange to activate the sim for some reason.

phone came 10/03 with normal sim not micro one
micro sim came 14/03
sim activated??? dunno when but if by saturday its not on ill be phoning them, thats 1 week i will have had the phone with no comms. this is probably the only reason getting it direct from the network would be any good but the fact that orange will probably take so long to get it released i probably wont have actually missed out

I received the phone and sim yesterday morning first thing from Orange having ordered at 10 on Tuesday night, so was pretty happy with that.

Activated the sim via the sim swap link on the orange website and it happened virtually instantly. Up and running now, no issues to report, but not had much time to mess yet.
