Ordered a new droid.

Keep in mind that GPS isn't just for using the phone for maps. GPS is used by all kinds of apps to find things based on your location - weather, gas prices, stores/restaurants, etc.

My battery life was really bad for the first 3 or 4 days, but improved dramatically after that. I followed the instructions for conditioning the battery that were posted way back when it was released - not sure if that had any impact or not, I've read differing opinions in the meantime.

Have fun!

Do you have a link to that stuff, to train the battery? I figure I'll give it three days for the battery life to show what it can do. If it doesnt last all day Im buying the extended one.

I could have sworn there were articles on both the Verizon and Motorola websites, but I can't seem to find it now on either. The general concept was to drain the battery nearly all the way then charge fully for the first 3 or 4 charges. I've read other opinions to the contrary since then though.

I can say that my batter life increased significantly after the first several days - but I have no solid evidence of why.

for the Steinheil Ultra Crystal...is there any where online that has them in stock and are OK to buy from??

Or another brand that is really good?

So I got my droid this morning. It's charging right now.

I have a quick question. Applications/services. How do I stop them from loading up when I turn the phone back on?

Like News. I don't use the widget, if I want the news I'll goto my local TV news station website (they actually have an application i found). I "force stopped" the news service.

Few other things I don't use.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of VZ navigator, and Blockbuster, City ID, and all that other useless bs?

I dragged and dropped it to the trash can but it doesnt work.

So far I am loving it.

With moderate usage the other day of some calls, and some web/facebook. It went down to about 50-60% in (if i remember correctly almost 6 hours).

I've been charging it when Im driving if it gets to like 80% just keep it topped off.

It's been unplugged for 3hours 55mins:

Calls 54%
Display 17%
Phone Idle 12%
Cell Standby (no idea what this is...) 10%
Android system 4%
Android OS 2%

Leaving the phone alone, the battery is really good.

No need for the extended battery. Glad I didn't get it.
