Help Organizing the Applications pane

Hi,

I now have about 100 apps on my Samsung Galaxy Note, and I've noticed that on some application panes (there are about 6 now), there is space for more icons, which populate the other panes.

Can I somehow move icons around on the applications pane?

Menu/Edit while in Applications view.

Does anyone know whether an Applications page can be moved around just like a Home screen page?

No, I don't think you understand me..pressing and holding an icon on the applications pane switches to the various homes screens and lets you place a shortcut to it on one of them.

This is what I want to do: organize my applications icons, rearrange them and remove the empty icon spaces on several of the application pages/panes.

I'm sorry, I'm new to the Android terminology so maybe my question wasn't properly worded. I have mostly worked in text mode Linux, and don't work much with GUIs, icons and windows :-)
 
My second message was a continuation of my first message, so you need to read both together.

To move the icons on the application pages, first press Menu/Edit. The display swithces to one where every icon has a minus sign. You can then press and hold an icon to move it from one application page to another.

The difference between the application pages and the Home screen pages is that in the application pages, you cannot have blank holes. The icons on each application page are packed beginning from the top.

When I do this, I am taken back to one of the home screens, where a shortcut for the icon I was pressing and holding, is now placed.

In fact, it is on my applications pages that there are blank holes which I want to remove.

As an example, I took a screenshot of applications pane #5, and if you look closely, you can see part of pane #6. There is space for one more icon on pane 5, and there are many icons on pane #6. The screenshot is available here:

What do you mean by "Menu/Edit"? Do you mean

1. Go to Applications pane.
2. Press the Menu button.
3. On the pop-up menu, select Edit (first option from the left, on the Galaxy Note).

If yes, then this is what I did. I don't understand how you are able to shift icons from one applications pane to another. When I press on one icon and try to move it, I end up creating a shortcut on one of the home screens which has space.

So, can you please clarify the method exactly. My question is: how do I organize various application panes, and remove vacant spaces by packing the icons continuously?
 
Let me start all over again:

1. Press the Application icon (default is blue icon on bottom right) if you are not already there.
2. Press Menu button. This is a soft button located to the left of the hard Home button.
3. In the pop-up, click Edit (pencil icon). You will see what your screenshot shows.
4. You can then press and hold any application icon and move them onto another Application page.

Hope it's clearer this time.
 
Thanks! This finally worked. My mistake was keeping the icon pressed long enough to exit the applications screen. Also, I think using fingers rather than the S-Pen for this activity, is a better idea.

Maybe this would work for me, but it would take soooo long. Is there a faster way to do it? The REAL question is: "what did I do to cause this to happen?" Also want to know how to delete the blank pages once the single icon is moved to another page?
 
Took me 5 seconds to figure this out. And my last phone was android 1.6 (Cupcake) lol.

I use appzorter to compact and sort (folder sort enabled).
 
i actually want the blank hole so that i can arrange the icon freely according to my own..is there an application to do that?for ios it is known as gridlck
 
It's easy to add and delete pages. Kinda use 2 fingers to "pinch" the screen and all your pages will show up. Then to add pages, press the one with the big + on it. To delete extra pages, drag them to the Trash at the bottom of the screen.
