OTA 2.1 Has started..

OMG i think its just some dude that got his hands on it and showed a picture to mess with everyone... why dont we all just got hunt him down

do we need to bring our own torches and pitchforks or will those be provided?

in all seriousness (or as much as I'm capable of mustering), midnight EST is just under 3 hours away. Soon enough, that update.zip or whatever file will be winding it's way through the internet and into our hot little hands and eventually our drrrrroids

I'm rooted and ROM'd and have no plans to get the OTA. I'll just wait for a ROM based on ESE81, if in fact it's even worth it.

However reading this thread, I feel so bad for all those getting knotted up over wanting the update.zip I was tempted to unroot just to see if I could get it.

I'm not that nice though.

There's a .apk for the 3d gallery that works in 2.0.1 that's been around for months.

Heh, perhaps a combination of all of them!

That's not the program he was referring to. In fact, the official 2.1 gallery has been available for ages as an installable .apk.

Nah. The distribution works like this:

At noon today, only 1000 people got it. At midnight, another 9000 will get it. Tomorrow, no one will get it, and starting 4/1 200,000 a day will get it.

So, if one of the original 1000 people had gotten it, it would've been posted hours ago. Now, we have much better chances of getting the file during the 2nd wave.

I know I've re-enabled OTA updates on my custom ROM to try to see if I'm one of the lucky 9000

I wasn't. All of the updates were sent at Noon. After that no one received one so when we didn't get one by like 3pm I figured we wouldn't. But this next wave is 9000 people so it should be up by morning.

I find this kind of rude and disrespectful. Some many people including myself are always busy helping other members, including the new ones. If you want to be oblivious of that fact then that's your problem I guess.
