Yeah, just noticed it pushed to my phone just now because I saw something downloading and was wondering what the heck it was because it wasn't from the market.

That's when I realized it was the next update. MOTO Support FTW!

I recently rooted my sprint photon but I cannot update. I would prefer not to do a restore then update if possible. I am aware of the cyanogenmod but they do not yet support the photon. Also does rooting the photon using the command line torpedo method disable 4G? I can still activate the 4G widgets but I do not have any 4G towers in my area. Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you.

I've never rooted before. Based on what I read on the EVO forums before, I was under the impression that it was a "must" that you revert back to stock in order to perform the official updates released. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got.

Yes, I continue to be impressed by the high level of support that Mototola is giving the MoPho. I'm so glad I chose this phone.

Update successful. This one took some time, so must've been some big files. But still, memory still looks barely touched. I love this phone as each day passes by. And still running pretty darn fluid.

Just downloaded the update, confirmed you WILL lose root if you update. I will attempt to re-root tomorrow using one click and post results.

Just noticed on my Appbrain account that "In Pocket" was part of the update, so maybe it fixed that proximity sensor issue that people had been having issues with.

I've been really impressed with Motorola and Google.

They need to keep it up and I don't doubt they'll deliver some amazing stuff with ICS!

I was able to update mine successfully (previously rooted phone using the photon torpedo method) and as expected, I did lose root.

After the previous update, I simply powered down the phone, pulled the battery, and powered the phone back on to restore root. This time around, that did not work.

To regain root (Photon-Torpedo method only), I opened up the terminal emulator, navigated to /data/tmp/, re-ran the install-su.sh script (/data/tmp/install-su.sh) and rebooted. Verified with root checker. And there was much rejoicing

I've had this update for a few days...

- Proximity sensor appears to be fixed - no more hitting buttons with side of face while on a call
- I never had a problem with power use but the battery appears to last even longer after the update
- Unlock screen seems to work faster

I have mine rooted with the one click root. So if I do the update there is a possibility that I will lose root but it won't erase everything on the phone? Please advise!

Went to update but it says "Download will start in Wi-Fi/Off-peak hour". That sucks that I have to wait till it wants to download. Anybody else get this? Anyway to force the update now?

Edit: Please disregard. Phone just mysteriously downloaded update after a battery pull. All is well...

So far my proximity issue after using my car bluetooth seems to be fixed. I only had a problem with the proximity sensor not shutting off after using my car bluetooth. Get out of the car, get on a phone call and the screen would stay on. If I did a simple reboot it would fix the problem until I used my car bluetooth. So far the update seems to have fixed that. Will find out more in the next few days.

Got some major issues after the update. Battery went from 100% to 10% in 3 hours with very little use! I am rooted and that may or may not be the cause. Also I have found that set cpu WILL now under clock the mopho... my phone is literally warm to the touch. Have not found any rogue apps causing the drain.

Hmm, odd. After a reboot it states "update failed" :(

Not rooted at all! Ideas on why?

Same "update failed" notice here except I am rooted (used AIO One Click method). Thought it might have been a bad update download but I did it twice via WiFi and even pulled the battery before trying the second time.

Ideas?

Odd. The battery life seems to have improved for me. Go to Settings > Battery & data manager > Batter usage

What does it say is using power?
