Help OTA Update thread - Discussion/Issues

Wait... They got rid of the FM radio tuner?? What kind of sense does that make??

Does anyone know how to get this back? I use the FM tuner all the time dialing into broadcast sound from TV's at work/gym. What a really stupid thing to remove from everybody's One.

sending error reports to HTC is a waste of time and resources.

you may need to factory reset. for many ota updates, it's wise to reset so it can untangle things that may have been mucked up in the process.
This process usually fix most ...if not all problems.

I make to perform a full reset after installing a new update.

I was able to fix my bluetooth issue!

Even though I had wiped my phone's cache, and wiped the phone back to factory defaults, none of that fixed the bluetooth issue with connecting my phone to my car.

Today I decided to look at the suggestion in post 113
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79488#c113
which is to find the app "Bluetooth Share" and delete the cache and data.

Settings -> Apps -> Scroll over to All -> Select Bluetooth Share -> Clear Cache and Clear Data. After doing this, power down your phone or tablet and boot back up.

That worked!! Now my phone can connect to my car stereo and functions correctly with the Pioneer apps, since all the touchscreen sensing is done via bluetooth.

I tried it again later, and it worked fine again!

I have an HTC One, and after this update my phone seems to be running a little weird. When I go to send texts I will have typed a word, but it does not show up right away. So, I could type "Hello" and it wouldn't register until about 10 seconds later. It happens about 80% of the time.

I'm no expert but it sounds like it is lagging. Check to see which apps are running also. Try a soft reboot to see if that helps. good luck

Can anyone tell me if there is a flashlight app again? I skipped the last update because I found out it removed the stock flashlight. If this new update returns it, I will update.

Well the last update did remove it, but someone on here posted a link or a post how to get it back. This last update did not remove it. I would think flashlight apps are plenty from the app store anyway, i don't think there is anything special from the HTC app. A Google search should turn up something on getting the app back. good luck

I've used plenty of flashlights from the Play Store, I like the stock HTC one best. I figured a thread talking about a new update would be the place to ask if it were returned.

Why would I Google a question I should be able to get easily from this thread?

You were really the only one asking about the app, this thread didn't really have any info on it. If you install the new update, my guess is your flashlight app will be removed. It was just a suggestion to try to figure how to get it back once you install this update.

Phone is now updated and seems to be running fine. Thanks for the link to the flashlight, it's actually an upgrade from the old one. Best part is, now I don't have to see the system update icon all the time.

I have the old one as well, thought you'd enjoy this one. :)

OK - true or false - the update is missing the FM radio now? What?

True. FM Tuner is gone, and I'm super irritated. Used it all the time to tune into TV's at the gym. Had to install an app (Next Radio). But it runs off data/wifi, so can be prone to bad lagging and cutting out. I'm hoping they push a patch or something soon. Seems ridiculous to me that they have a phone with a built in tuner, but now don't give a stock method to use.

All in all, this update has not been good for my One. Battery life has been significantly decreased, and I've come to notice the wifi and phone antennas seem to be considerably less powerful. Many places I received mid-level signal before the update I now get spotty at best. Places I got low-level signal, I now have none.

I think this update removed Handcent emoji, thought I had this before. The smiley face looks like a green android figure. I reinstalled it and looks like it is working now. Just an FYI. Thanks

...Every time I restart or turn off the phone a Qualcomm Enhanced Location "Allow" prompt comes up? I clicked allow (looked "safe") why does it keep coming up?
And the little green flashing LED light will continue to flash Until I check to see what it is notifying me about? It used to just flash for minute or two then stop. I have to think that is drawing on the battery???
Disappointed in the loss of the FM radio... Also seems like daily battery life is less (setting did not change) especially when just letting it sit over night - odd
Noticed a $hit-Ton (haha) more Emoji options in the text area ;)
Everything else seems to be a bit sharper/cleaner/more colors then before and maybe a bit quicker running/start-up

Anyone know if there were any changes (positive) to the camera??? Honestly that is the one big disappointment I have with this phone - Hopeful that then new HTC One M9 has a giant leap forward for the camera function!!!

FM Radio Service

No idea if that will work, will work in Lollipop, or if both are required.
Gave it a shot. Downloaded both. When I try to install it says package installer. When trying that it says App not installed. I guess maybe not. Thank you anyway, its appreciated.

Ok big problem. This has never happened to me ever since I got my HTC one M7 in 2013. Within the past 24 hours, my phone has randomly reset itself 3 times. I would just watch a video or listen to music and then reset! Is anyone else having this problem after installing the new update?

Same result here. Installed both, neither would try. Thank you for posting though!!

Still don't have a lock screen media player when I had one before the update. Also my phone restarts by itself at least once a day now. So frustrating.

After lollipop update now have wifi calling app. I don't use Wifi calling. don't want the app on the phone. can't stop it from running. i can force stop but then it starts up again. i can't disable the app because the option is grayed out. i have a task killer that kills it but its hapening all the time. how can this wifi calling app be killed? anyone have this issue with this app or know a solution?? thanks.

For those looking for an FM Radio, check out "NextRadio"

EDIT - went back and noticed -

I think that the network part is just supposed to support purchases.

Sounds like a good app to block with a firewall and force FM only.

I'll keep looking for a non-root solution for y'all.

EDIT 2 - found on Sprint support site -

Install the (free) NextRadio app (NextRadio - Android Apps on Google Play). Open the menu of the app and select "Basic Tuner" towards the bottom. I have tested this and it appears to work.

If you want, you can go into the settings of the app and switch it to "Basic Only" mode (under "Interface") which means it will always function as just a normal FM Tuner (no fancy loading of images and all that).

EDIT 3 -

OK, I confirmed that works.

There's no RDS data support to show the station or the program like on the HTC, but you can set it to pure FM radio and it works.

I confirmed that by blocking it with my root firewall.
