Root OTA Update

I wasn't finding where TiBu was keeping my backups after a wipe, so I assumed it was getting stuck on the phone's memory and wiped. Guess I should have RTFM ;)

From the Titanium Backup manual:
i. How to restore your backups after installing a ROM (if you wiped your phone)

If you just formatted your SD card, don

so i downloaded it, ran it, half way through i got some options and just hit reboot, now its stuck on the white 'HTC' screen and wont go past it. any way to force or restart the update?

FWIW,you can change the backup folder location in preferences. i keep mine on the sd. you may have to physically move it the first time with root explorer,or mounted to the PC. but then afterwards, you just need to chage the backup folder location after a new rom flash and then you can restore everything from your sd :)

first off pull the battery to reboot. Hopefully it will boot up fine from here (back to pre-OTA state). Then check for software again, it should redownload the update.

Note: if you are rooted, unlocked, or on non-stock hboot the OTA will not work. I have standard Hboot, but was unlocked and rooted. So to run the OTA I had to relock and run the RUU.

What you could do is download the official ICS RUU...rename it to PH98IMG.zip and put it in the root of your SD card. Pull battery and boot into bootloader. Apply ICS through bootloader.

how do i relock the phone? TB is set to run every few days so im not worried about the phone being wiped or anything

being unlocked doesnt matter.

in order to get the OTA you need:
-stock recovery
-NOT have deleted system apps or files
-to be on the most current software and firmware(hboot 2.11,build 2.01.605.11)

you can relock by placing the phone in fastboot, open a cmd window, and enter fastboot oem lock wich will change you to relocked

be aware that doing this on a heavily moded stock rom,or a custom rom will casue a security warning that locks you into bootloader until you: 1)re-unlock or 2)flash an official RUU

you can follow the directions in post 2 of the sticky root guide to run an RUU.
