Help OTA Updates

Couple of questions. Why is it when I have the wifi on and do an OTA update its still charging me network data? Is there a way for this not to happen? If there is something Im missing please let me know.

Also, why is it the Kies thing says the Infuse is not supported?

Thanks for all the help.

I know with my Infuse, sometimes even though the WiFi icon shows, it is not actually WiFi connected, so check your settings to make sure. Just a suggestion.

As for Kies, I too am seeking an answer. There's some question whether Kies works in the U.S. and especially if installed via a PC (vs. Mac). My search has not yielded any definative answer thus far. Stay tuned....

The wifi is on because everything else was using it except that. I found the Kies mini but all it tells me is my phone is not registered and never actually looks at the software.

Well, I'm in the US and on a Mac. Kies works on the Mac. I downloaded mine from the Samsung web site and was able to sync photos using Kies. The link where I got Kies for Mac also lists a download for PC, but I do not know whether it works on a PC.

The above link has both Mac and PC download options.

I just got off the "live chat" with Samsung regarding Kies. First, you have to get them to understand the question. I told them I have a Samsung Infuse. I installed Kies version 2.0... on my PC. When I connect the phone to my PC using Kies it tells me the phone is incompatible. Their response, "I understand you're having trouble updating your phone to 2.2," or something like that. Bottom line, Kies does not work in the US. I mentioned Mac, but not much of a response, except that when it is available in the US it will be posted on their website. They mentioned something about mini Kies was used to update software. I asked more about it, I didn't install mini Kies and thought maybe they were saying to use that, but I didn't really get an answer.

Sad their own software doesnt work with their devices. That leaves only OTA for updating which appears to still use the network to do. Thats crap. If it winds up being a huge DL then how are us who dont pay for much gonna get it done lol.

OtA is free... And easy..last week i was all up into atts highest tech. Level..he swrore up and down there was no update.after 2 wasted hours i laughed and ended the call.friday i got the update....IE.....ATT IS LOST.AND SELLS YOUR INFO....AND WE PAY THEM:confused:

I too spoke to AT&T tech support. They did acknowledge that there was an update, although it has gone both ways with that. I concluded the conversation with them assuring me that there was nothing wrong with my phone and that I would be notified when the update was available for my phone, meaning the update is rolled out, we all don't get it at the same time. However, it is sent OTA. The thing I don't understand is during the troubleshooting process they asked me to turn off wifi. Does that mean you won't get the update if you are connected to wifi?
