Help OTAs for older versions

mols

Do OTAs for older versions also come out in phases? My Nexus 5 is on 5.1.1, no security patches. I updated from 5.0.1, which updated all the way to 5.1.1 in a matter of hours. I'm looking to get 6.0, but there has been no OTA notification for a couple of days now. I'm a little concerned, since the previous updates came so fast, but not simple security updates.

I've gotten a whole series of OTAs (usually minor, incremental ones) in a short period of time after flashing to an old, base version and then had it take a while for the newer, most recent ones to come in.

This has been on a variety of devices of the course of the last few years, so there's no set rhyme or reason, as far as I can tell.

My son usually gets OTAs for his N5 a week or more before I receive mine...talked to him today and he still had not received 6.0.1 while I got it last weekend.

Crap shoot, really :p ;) :D.

(I'm sure there really is a rhyme and reason, it's just that they're not obvious to us or publicly disclosed)

Welp, I better wait for the security updates then?
It seems an update's an update no matter how small...
Incidentally, about this thread, the only prefix I could use was "support" (which wasn't really my purpose) and it forced me to use some kind of prefix. Is there any other option?

Yeah, you should get the OTAs eventually (and the security updates are indeed important) :).

The "support" prefix is the default for this (Android Questions) area ostensibly to steer folks from posting threads that aren't support / question-related.

Cheers!

How odd... I jumped straight to 6.0.1 from 5.1.1 (no patches). This is different from my other (defective) N5 that got the patches first before it prompted for Marshmallow. Not complaining, though!

Awesome! I'm surprised but now know that Google is providing that jump...cool :).
