OTG Cables

I recently purchased a OTG cable for the phone so I could move media freely at ease but I have no clue on how to get it to work. Does it even work? After doing searches for the Epic Touch, I know that model has issues with it, but what about our S2s?

I don't know a huge amount on the subject but what exactly are you trying to do with the cable? And what device are you trying to connect?

A bit more information might be helpful to myself or someone else to give you advice.

I wanna be able to access my flash drives via the OTG cord. I've seen videos of people plugging in a mouse but I don't need to do that. What I do want to do is copy stuff off my phone to the flash drives & play videos/songs off it.

At a guess I'd say maybe the Android device cannot read the file system format of the flash drive.

Do you know what it's formatted as? As in NTFS, FAT32, etc? If it's NTFS the I'm pretty sure that's a Microsoft specific format so maybe try FAT32.

Quick note though, to change the format you'll need to change it on a computer & it'll wipe all the files that are currently on the flash drive off so copy the files across to the computer then back on to the flash drive after formatting it.

Uh. Flash drives never come in NTFS format... unless you format it like that yourself, and that would shorten the life of your flash drive so i don't know why it would be

I don't know what version of android you're on but when you plug in your phone to a computer a notification should pop up allowing you to switch from charge to mass storage mode.

I'm not trying to plug my phone to the computer. I'm trying to hook up my phone to a usb flash drive via OTG cord. In case I lost ya..

I read somewhere that it's possibly not working cause I have too large of a flash drive, a 32GB one. I'll have to try again when I find a smaller one to test out.

I used fat32formatter.exe to format a 64GB flash drive so that I could watch videos with an OTG cable on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus tablet. It worked GREAT!!

Here's a link to the file plus directions.

Scroll down about halfway through the directions to this line with the link to the file and directions on how to use it. "Now download a copy of fat32format. Extract the single EXE file to somewhere suitable, like C:\." The directions prior this section don't apply to the formatter file and you won't need those.
