Help OTG Connection

I used to use a Galaxy Tab OTG Connection 5+1 in 1 to transfer files to my previous galaxy Tab 10.1.

I now have a Galaxy Note 10.1 and despite the Note recognising it which plugged into the dock connector the Note doesn't recognise any attached USBs or SD cards.

Does this mean that I need a Galaxy Note 10.1 specific OTG Connector?

This is the one I used on the Galaxy Tab 10.1

THey use the same OTG accessories. I use my original Samsung USB connection kit I bought when I had the Tab on my Note without any issues.

Thanks.

Should I set anything in the Settings area of the Note to get this gizzmo to work. When I connect it I do get the message 'USB Connector Connected' in the Notifications area.

You don't need to do anything. It's mostly plug and play interface. The fact it shows the notification means the OTG device is recognized by the device. To really know if it works is to plug in a mouse or other USB device to see if it's detected and can be used.

Friends, I have one of this. It operation is erratic. Sometime work perfectly and sometime does not work at all. I have a GT-N8010.
No idea what to do. Any ideas?
TIA

Thanks.

When the notification shows up, open My Files and check if it shows anything apaprt from extSDCard and SDCard.

Yes, with a file manager you'd find your USB drive at something like mnt/usb ...

Note, before disconnecting the USB drive from the tablet you'd unmount the USB drive (like you'd do it on the PC). On my phone I do this where an current USB OTG connection will be shown ... in Settings, Storage, USB Storage ...

To unmount it on the Note you just touch the storage notification icon.
