Other option to turn the screen on besides power button?

You'll be glad that you bought a screen protector in the long run. A lot of people say that they are very careful and don't use one. It doesn't matter how careful a person is..... the grit and grime from dust will eventually take it's toll on an unprotected screen. I was one of those people who swore up and down that I didn't need one until I saw what happened to my Mororola Clutch. I put a screen protector on every device I own now a days.
A protective case is a must too. I even broke down and bought one for my tablet. Hopefully I'll never need it but it's nice to know it's there... JUST IN CASE!
They've saved my Prevail and Marquee on quite a few occasions.Edit : Ginger, there's also an app called Stay Awake that will keep your phone on. You can set it to stay on all the time or only when plugged in. Just saying.

ehh i have a pack of screen protectors but i don't have one on my phone. i can never seem to get all the air pockets out and they irritate the hell out of me every time i turn my screen on so i just don't have one

Exactly, my screen protector was being stupid. I couldn't get that thing to stay on, not only that but the air bubbles was too much. I ended up taking it off for now. I'll probably let a professional handle it

That's the BEST screen protector I ever used.... I ONLY use this one on ALL my gadgets requiring a screen protector !! It NEVER failed once !!! I never use their "Maximum or Full body" cover, just the screen protector. It's like $7.50, but well worth ! And easy to apply, never ever had bubbles ( except in my bathtub, LOL LOL )
Even withstands looooooooooooong nails.............. Grinzzzz
