I'm kinda angry with Otterbox dragging it's feet on these. I mean the iPhone 4 came out after the EVO and Otterbox cases are everywhere.
I know, I know, they are going after the one with the most demand and the one that will make them money. Got it, but it's still annoying.
Plus with insurance, I am most likely OK with my normal case.

I found the Seidio active case to be just as good as the commuter case that otterbox puts out. I would have loved to have an Otterbox case for my phone, but I couldn't see waiting at least 3 months for a case. They weren't even sure if they were going to make a case until enough people complained. I understand getting the IPhone4 out first, but are trying to tell me you have one team working on R and D? I think they should hire more people and sell more cases to pay those people. Amazing cases, but people don't want to wait forever to get them.

The black silicon case from sprint offers good protection from drops and it's only $12-15 ($12 for premier). When I picked up mine they told me I had 30 days to return it if I wanted. Might be an option if you think otterbox cases will be out in the next 30 days.

Which is too bulky, you want protection there's gonna be some bulk. It's a trade off.
And I doubt most silicon cases offer much protection when dropped besides not getting scratched. There's not too much there to deflect w/ the silicone or 1piece cases.

Just caught a design flaw in the Defender series!
2 things.
First, let me say that the 'kickstand cover' is a little over the top and pointless IMO. But hey, if you're paying that much for the case, I guess they should cover every mm.
Second (the design flaw), there are a couple 'nubs' on either side of the back edge of the case (check the 2nd photo of defender). That nub is perfectly in the middle of the edge that lays on a surface of a table while using the kickstand. This will render the phone all-but stable while the kickstand is in use.

The description says that it has a "built in kickstand", maybe it's in addition to the one on the phone. The kickstand also looks wider and more square on the end, it should be a lot more stable. I don't think that I would want to do without my kickstand, I use it at least once a day.

Just wanted to note that the case in the link that you provided is not sold by Amazon-- that's sold by Prima Products through the Amazon marketplace (Prima controls the content on that page).

okay so from the pictures I am guessing that the camera and flash/flashlight are not usable unless you remove the case on the defender series which in my opinion is stupid and gives me another reason why not to buy this case.
