Accessories Otterbox Case

Try this case , looks just as good as the otterbox.

I just ordered one of those for my Vibrant! I'm nosy to see how they are made. I love the fact that they seem like an Otterbox, but you can get these in COLORS! I always wished that they would have made them in colors, anyway, I should get them sometime this week and I'll let everyone know what I think of them :)

Ya let us now how you like it, and did get a clip with it?

I just got them in today's mail, they seem solid like an otterbox. I had ordered three of them, one in Red, one in Orange and one in Blue. Once I figure out with my mom who gets what color, I'll post some pictures of the Vibrant in one of them.

It comes with a plastic cover for the screen, and then the hard plastic case like what the otterbox has, and then the gel skin that fits on top of the plastic case. The gel skin seems a little thicker then the gel of the otterbox (Compared to the two otterbox's I had, both for a Blackberry.) Anyway, once I can put one on my phone, I figure I would have played with the case some more but as for right now, I really like them.

I did not order it with a clip, the site I ordered it from (Didn't order off the makers website, found it cheaper at $24.95 with free shipping & $10 dollars off since my order was over $50.) but I'm not sure if they offered it. I would want to see the clip before I pay extra for it. The last clip I had from otterbox was crap and is another reason why I have no issues switching companies to something better. I'll look into the clip right now :)

where did you get it from?

How does the Otterbox compare to the Bodyglove case? Is it less bulky? Will the Otterbox fit inside the Golla pouch? I am currently using the Bodyglove case but due to winter weather, I added a Golla pouch [my wife calls it a man-purse bag] for added protection.

The plastic shell of the Otterbox Commuter is very thin. It almost adds no significant thickness to the inner gel case, which is maybe slightly thinner than a standard $2 gel case.

I ordered the Trident Cyclops case from CellBatt last Friday (should be arriving today, Wednesday, if the USPS tracking information is correct). This was the cheapest place I could find according to Google's "Shopping" site, with a final price of $22 shipped from the west to east coast after the 10% off coupon ("CELLBATT10").

One of the things that motivated me to get the Trident Cyclops was the for the nice holster with a built-in stand that seems to be only available directly from Trident's website for $10.
iPhone Covers And Cases, Cases For Apple iPad, iPod & iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S & Motorola Cell Phone Cases, HTC Evo & Incredible Case

I expect that I will put the Vibrant through the same abuse as my Blackberry, so I'll report back in 2 years to let everyone know which case held up best; the Trident Cyclops or the Otterbox Defender.

OK, I just received the Trident Cyclops case in the mail along with the holster/stand. Both are very nice, although not quite of the same quality as the Otterbox Defender I've been using with my Blackberry for the past 2 years.

The most glaring deficiency of the TC (and a huge disappointment) is the spring mechanism on the belt clip of the holster/stand. The OD has an acual "hinge" that the plastic belt clip pivots on, and tension between the clip and the holster is maintained with a metal spring. (The tension has held up great for the past 2 years.) The belt clip of the TC appears to be just plastic which bends when the clip is opened. Strangely enough, the clip that holds the phone in the holster has the same design as the OD clip. Hopefully, the plastic clip will hold up

Another problem with the TC case is the rubber plugs that cover the headphone jack and USB connector. Unless you have some really long fingernails, they're very difficult to open, since there's not much of a nub on the edge of each to grab on to. (Despite having average length fingernails for a guy, I had to resort to jamming a nail file in behind the nub to pry the rubber plugs up.)

Those are the most prominent issues I see so far, but I believe the advantages of having a holster with a kickstand and what appears to be a very sturdy case (which I would say is as good as the OB case, except for the plugs) far outweigh the problems mentioned above. (Although, the flimsy belt clip may be a critical flaw to the holster.)

Also, I've read about problems with the built-in screen protector reducing the sensitivity of the capacitative touch screen. Since I still had my screen protector on that came with the Commuter case, I didn't bother to test this, and just removed the built-in screen protector. The glue wasn't hardened, so it was fairly easy to do with the edge of a knife. (I just lifted up one corner and slowly worked around it.)

One other small annoyance TC is the thickness of the rim of the case surrounding the touchscreen. It's really just cumbersome and feels like your always reaching over something. Otterbox must have recognized this issue and purposefully made the rim on the Commuter case very thin. I guess it's a trade-off; protection versus accessibility.

If anyone is wondering which case to buy, the TC is massive (thus the need for a strong belt clip), but it definitely will offer better protection than anything on the market (that I've seen). The Otterbox Commuter, on the other hand is probably the best of the cases that are meant to be carried in a pocket, although $30 is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.

Personally, as long as the touchscreen still works well, I'll probably be sticking with the TC. If they would only make the rubber plugs easier to pull out and improve upon the belt clip hinge (up to the same standards as the OD), I would rate this case a perfect "10."

Hope this helps.

gizzmo - Your review is spot on. I feel exactly the same about my new trident case. I just ordered [FONT=&quot]Seidio Innocase II Surface Caseand im going to test that out then maybe order the holster for it although I hear bad things about it.
