Accessories Otterbox Case

Someone mentioned it on an earlier post... but it got me to try out the crystal case. It's like the silicon cases, but it is made of a TPU (thermo plastic.... dunno the rest). It is not soft nor a dust attractant like the silicon cases. It is flexible (inlike the hard plastic cases), feels durable, has a slight slight grip. Google search it, can be bought from numerous place for $7-8. There are different colors and it appears they all have that argyle (spelling?) pattern... but I don't even notice it on my black (smoke transparent) case.

Previously I had the sprint silicon case (2-pack, black and blue). The crystal case is less bulkier. I'm happy with the tpu case. I was concerned that the otter case would be bulky and not ready to spend the money for another case I may not like. For the price it is worth a try.
 
The weirdest thing happened today, I took off the otterbox case for half the morning and when I put it back on I actually liked it with the case better than without. This thing is growing on me

Did you get it at handhelditems.com? I remember liking the concept of those, but I wanted black. You say you have black, but then call it Smoke transparent, which color do you have? Can you post a pic of it on your phone? I'm always open to trying a new case....thanks
 
Just got the otterbox a couple hours ago. Must say I like it better and it is little smaller than the bodyglove. But I think the bodyglove would be better protection. The otterbox skin and hardshellwas so thin and the way it come out of the box you could squeeze it and almost touch sides together. As for a case I like it best but I don't think it lives up to tough otterbox reputation. It actually feels like you need the strength of the phone itself in case to make it stronger.
 
ordered from amazon on the 11th, got it today. normally i hate the feel of cases on my phone, but this one feels great! i'm definitely impressed and wouldn't hesitate to order another otterbox product in the future.
 
I ordered one from Newegg last week and I just got an email saying that they are now on back order. I was really hoping to have this case soon.
 
I got the same email...talk to customer service...what I was told was it was a problem with the warehouse...got an extra $5 off mine.

I got the email too!! I ordered another one from Amazon, it's only $26 including shipping. Calling newegg tomorrow to cancel my order. I can't wait anymore.

Sorry for the confusion, thought it was black, but web site called it smoke. But I remember seeing sites calling it black and seeing the smoke color. Anyways, I like the smokey look. I'll try to posts pics soon.

Same for me...but I was told it was a problem with a particular warehouse...reorderd and already got shipping info plus a $5 credit for my troubles...so around $18 for the case...not bad.
 
I reorderd one from Amazon on the 16th after my Newegg order fell through, finally got confirmation that it shipped!! I'm feelin like the Hero is naked and can't wait to get the case on it, which is weird because I've despised cases on every other phone I had.
 
Finally got my Otterbox today. I thought it was gonna be difficult to put on. Doesn't add too much bulk at all. As others have said, it feels like it fits my hand better now. My only concern so far is the flap that goes into the USB port doesn't fit so well, I gotta wiggle it around to get it in there, and then it still looks loose.
 
I got mine a few days ago. I just wanted to check it out to see if I'd like it because extra protection can be a good thing. I didn't like the extra bulk or the feel, so I went back to naked.

YES!!!! Seriously, I have never had a case on any phone because I think most of them look cheap and gaudy. This case feels like it's an extension of the phone, I feel like my Hero is complete now!
 
Ok, after a few days with my Otterbox I've noticed one Pro and one Con.

Pro: The case is raised up around the END button, which eliminates accidental unlocks in my pocket. This is nice because I was using the extra unlock pattern screen, and now I don't need to!

Con: This is a small gripe, but it does interfere with the pulldown notification bar. I have to push up on the case to be able to pull it down.


I still love my new case and would suggest it for anyone wanting a case.

My pulldown works fine without pushing the case out of the way.

I just got mine this morning, and other than messing up the screen protector when I dropped it, I am very happy. I will go buy a screen protector soon.

I agree.

I like the raised edge around the bottom, I can now set it face down on my desk at work and now worry about the screen or trackball getting messed up. Plus, I can hear the speaker much better. It sounds muffled if you put it face up because the rear of the phone is now flat.

I had same problem with the notification bar but the top part of the case is so soft it's not that much of a deal to me just to push it up a little to pull down the bar. Sometimes if my screen is on I just press menu then notifications, two key presses instead of one but works just as good for me.

So now that it's warming up here in Wisconsin and the bulky jackets are being replaced by lighter ones as well as lighter shirts, I decided to remove my Otterbox whilst sipping a beer at a local brew pub.
I immediatley liked it better naked than with the case. My shirt pocket didn't droop down so much when in there, and my inner jacket pocket didn't make me appear that I had one boob larger than the other. Thinking it was the spirits, I went another day with it sans Otter and I still like it.

I may just take out the Otter for these horrible WI winters and go without for spring thru autumn. I might try one of those TPU cases just for the heck of it - maybe a happy medium for the warmer months.
 
I have been using my OtterBox Commuter for a week or so, and I like it.

The only problem is that I messed up the screen protector, so I need to buy another.

I don't really care for the feel of the Zagg... plus I messed it up (taking it off when I got the otter box) is there a good screen protector that feels like glass?
 
I bought the HTC Hero Commuter off of Amazon yesterday...i read a comment that someone left stating that after arrival of the case, it wasn't a Otterbox case. The description on amazon says Otterbox...has anyone else that has bought this off Amazon received anything else other than an Otterbox?? BTW, bought mine yesterday on 3/28/10.....people that bought from amazon ,how long did it take?
