Help Otterbox Defender - can't pull down notification bar

UncleMike

I just got my [GSM] Nexus this week, and my Defender arrived yesterday. I'm having a consistent problem getting the notification bar to pull down. I see two reviews on their own web site commenting on this. Is anyone here having this problem?

Also, I'd consider the Kraken, but the belt clip looks REALLY flimsy, leaving the bulk of the screen exposed even when the phone is in the clip. Any comments?

if you installed a home replacement app such as Nova, Apex, ADW, etc
then you can do a swipe down to pull down notifications.
is really beneficial

I have the defender and fat fingers and I don't have this issue. Strange. I do push my finger against the top part but I don't have any problems.

Well I had that problem when I first got mine, but if you get the extended battery it will take care of the problem. I think they made so you could use the bigger battery with the case. If you notice without the bigger battery the phone does not meet the front of the case but if you get the bigger battery it works.

Either that, or they made for the Verizon Nexus, which is 0.2mm thicker. I'll see what adjustments I can make, but it certainly seems plausible that near the edges of the screen you would not be able to push the screen protector down enough to make proper contact.

Edit: a single business card, cut to length to fit between the camera and the speaker, and the remainder cut into 4 pieces to give a double thickness on each side of the camera, has made a drastic improvement.

Thanks!

I submitted a trouble ticket to Otterbox about this, and eventually provided a link to a comparison between the various Galaxy Nexus varieties, and the ultimate response was that the case is designed for the Sprint version of the Nexus. They offered to send a screen protector from the Commuter series to try to fill in the gap, but I declined, figuring it was better to fill in the void behind the phone instead. They also offered a refund if I had bought from them, which I didn't.

The difference in thickness is actually 0.53mm, and I ended up using a double thickness of my business card all around, though once in a while I still feel the gap between the screen and the screen protector when tapping. If I come up with a more permanent solution - one that doesn't result in loose cut up business cards falling out of the case when I open it - I'll post the details.
