Otterbox Defender Case for Skyrocket

Lurker
I ordered a new Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket from Att and wanted to get the Otterbox Defender case for it, I have one on my Captivate and LOVE it!
But when I got the Otterbox for the Skyrocket in the mail, the rubber felt a lot more plasticy (A LOT harder) than the rubber on the Otterbox Defender on my Captivate, It was also really bent out of shape so I thought maybe it was a fake (got it from Amazon)..

So I ordered a new one from the Otterbox site and it was even worse, the rubber doesn't line up with the sides and the holes for the speaker, mic, and clip things on the side don't even match up the right way.. the hole for the speaker is too big and too high up and the hole for the clip thing on the side is too small..

So basically, my question is whether anyone else has an Otterbox Defender for their Skyrocket and if they're seeing any similarities with their case.. I'm hoping I just got two bad cases haha

Otterbox is pretty good with their customer service. I'd just call them to see if this was common and if you could get replacements.

I bought my defender in store and the rubber piece didn't fit right so I had them switch it for a.different one. The second has worked great for me. On a side note I am on my 3rd though, having put some deep scratches on the screen of my 2nd. Was replaced free under warranty, and this rubber piece fits almost as well as my second. A little inconsistent...

mine fits perfect, but its also hard and plastic feeling, my last phone i had an otterbox commuter, and the rubber was alot softer, felt more like silicone. I've noticed with this one, with use over time, the rubber gets grippier feeling.

I have a defender case also

I actually like it more than most cases I have had before.

When I take the case apart to clean up some dust that my pockets left im always happy

My phone is still band new with no scratches or dents thanks to the case.

it is a little pricey at around $50 (retail)

I just picked one up and I love the case but i noticed the rubber doesnt line up into the plastic groove on the top right corner. Its in but almost looks like its malformed a bit. I'm gonna take it back and exchange it.

kellypatrick: They replace them for damage too? Do they ask for a receipt or for the original back? I have one for my 3gs and the screen was very easily scratched to the point that i stopped using the case. Its two years old though..

I had the power button snap off the Commuter case for my HTC Tilt2. An email to the company resulted in a request for pictures of the problem and a shipping address to send me a new case. 7 days later a complete new case was in my mailbox.

I went to the store I purchased the otter and they pulled up my account, no receipt needed. I believe warranty is only for a year. The damage was very clearly caused by me and they replaced it no problem

Their warranty is lifetime or at least it was when I bought my Tilt2 case. It was well over two years old when they replaced it and they never asked for a receipt. I think I bought it from their website.

I use Otterbox Defender case for my Skyrocket - and while I also notice some imperfect fit of the rubber, it's nowhere as bad as the other posters observed. It sits pretty tight (though not as tight as that on my iPhone 3GS :) ). Overall I'm very happy with this protective case.

I have the defender sitting by my tv, not too sure if i want to put it on considering the hefty size of it lol

It's huge & hefty on iPhone 3GS, and it's huge & hefty on Skyrocket. Do I like this? No. But since I use both in the field and need that extra bit of protection - I have to tolerate this bulk. Choosing the lesser evil, so to say. :D

Oddly, it's not on the new 4S. It barely provides the kind of protection the 3GS case did and it's ill fitting. The thin rubber strip across the bottom of the screen bulges out about 1/8".

I have a defender, and use speaker phone a lot. When I do, the other person hears an echo. I even tried turning on noise cancellation but it still echoes. The rep. at AT&T store told me "just buy a bluetooth headset". I told him I purchase a phone with speaker capability for the purpose of using that feature, and a bluetooth would not fix my speaker problem, just cost me more money. I returned several but they all seem to do the same thing. Anyone else notice, or am I the only one uses speaker?

I have the Otter Defender and it fits very nicely. It is bulkier than the phone by itself of course, but I think I could walk on the thing and not hurt it, so I accept the bulk. I have not tried the speakerphone, only had the phone a few days. Mine also has a VERY slight alignment issue in the upper right corner, but I don't notice the hard rubber feel at all, seems nice and tactile.

I had one but didn't like the way it distorted the screen. When it got dirty, there was a lot of chromatic abberation evident which was annoying for such a bright, colorful screen. The plastic screen cover also made the touch feature a little slow.

I actually have a otterbox impact case.

Fits perfect on my skyrocket. no hard plastic on it at all. I like how it goes over & covers the earpiece. can be taken & off the phone VERY easily

the cheapest of the otterboxes for the skyrocket. can be found on *b*y for about $11 shipped

I stopped using my speaker phone for the most part because of this

I also have the Defender case on my Skyrocket. When I received it, it did seem to not fit the grooves and ports but with a little patience and working it slowly around while maybe gentle stretching, it fits great.
I have not noticed any delay or problems with the face cover, I also use the speaker phone all the time with no problems. With
Otterbox service in my opinion is Great, I broke the holster/belt clip and called Otterbox about buying a replacement. They quickly and gladly shipped me a replacement at no charge, including Shipping!
