So I dropped my phone today!!!! That sucked balls.... The housing on my phone is dinged and the pavement did cosmetic wonders to the brushed metal look on the front plate. I can't believe it. I've babied my phone since I got it, and today I forgot it was on my lap while in the car, and when I got out, SMASH!!!! Great way to start my day. I ordered a new housing for it on Ebay.... seller says it is oem. We'll see when I get it, but i really hope it is because I can't stand looking at my phone like this! Anybody else out there have a similar story?

this what you bought? there are two things i dont like about this item:
1. there is a "power" symbol just right of the end-button while. not supposed to.
2. the brushed metal on the camera plate (back of the phone, where 5.0 megapixels is written) is not brushed metal on the item

I dropped and stepped on mine on asphalt pavement. Couldn't believe it, scrapped part of the "back" button and some of the finish at the top right of the phone.
Nice to see there is an option for replacing the housing of the HTC. I'm not there yet, but might be looking at trying it out if feedback on the replacement housing is good.

MY dreaded fear is to leave my phone on my lap EVER again. I did that with my Instinct s30 1 too many times, now with my hero (with Invisible Shield + Silicon cover) I hardly ever place it on my lap while driving, because I usually ALWAYS forget its there when I get out. Ive learned my lesson. xD

This happened to me Twice !! Both times I was driving with it on my lap, got out and bam right on the pavement. The first time it scratched a little on the front grey area. So I took the phone back to best buy and told them it was having network issues. The guy comes out with a box that said "with google"on it. They let me put the old back with the new phone. So Know I have a "with google phone", but with the old back.
2nd time I was just careless again.
I don't like having a protective skin on the phone because it feels like a bad window tint job and the fact that I love the form factor of the hero,it just feels right.

Yeah, that's what I bought... I didn't notice the power symbol you mentioned, but I did notice the back when I purchased. However, my back piece wasn't damaged. I am hoping the housing is a perfect fit as suggested by the seller, and, therefore, my backpiece fits it. I will post pics as soon as I get the new housing on. (crossing my fingers)
+1... Completely agree with you on that one... but I am now considering the Zagg shield after the experience and the innocase clip combo...
