Outdated Nexus/Droid?

My upgrade is mid April. There is no way I can afford this full price and a ghost line isn't going to happen. Would getting the Galaxy Nexus then (4 months old) be as bad as when I got the OG Droid in June 2010 (7 months after it's release)? I know it won't be too outdated then especially the software. I just don't want to end up with an old Grandpa phone a year from now I can't update or get accessories for. So, get the Nexus then, or get something that will be brand new at that point ........

Thoughts?

By April the hardware of the GNEX will probably be outdated but the software will probably still be cutting edge. It will take a while before Android 4.0 is the norm. I'd imagine there will be some awesome quad core phones announced in the next 2 months or so that will be released in the summer or fall of '12.

Isn't it a bit sad and pathetic if many of you don't think it will be worth getting this 4 months from now?

Sad that technology moves so fast that 4 months from now something newer/faster/better will be out? No way! That's awesome.

Pathetic that I don't think paying $699 for a 4 month old phone is worth it? No way!

Exciting and optimistic is the way I'm thinking of it.

*I have to mention that my wife's next upgrade is in 4 months. I'm already looking forward to her next phone*
