Outdoor Projectors......the Nebula Mars 3 is the best!!!!!!

ocnbrze

DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!
so i just bought the Nebula Mars 3 projector. it is the only outdoor projector that i have found. it is ipx 3 rated so it can handle rain and mist as well as dust proof. it has lens protector that acts as the power button. you just close the lid on the lens and it powers off. it can handle a screen size of 200" at 1080p. it has android tv built in with chromecast. Nebula is owned by Anker and thus it has a 5 hour battery bank. it has 1,000 ansi lumens which makes it really bright. it also has a very nice built in 40W speaker with Dolby Digital Plus.

you can get it from Amazon:

here is a great review of it:

i have been looking for an outdoor projector for my backyard porch. i am currently using my porch shade as a projector screen. it projects really good onto it. i am sure that if i use an actual projector screen, the image would be that much better, but i am really happy with the setup i have now. i can now chill after work, smoke my cigar while having a nice glass of bourbon and watch my content. i can watch live sports from it thru the Direct TV app.

anybody else use a projector?

i forgot to mention that it is about a year old so the price has dropped considerably. it is currently on sale on Amazon for $799....originally $1099 so now is the time to get one. yes it is still expensive., but it is so worth the money.

About like a half of year or so, was somewhat thinking of one for my place for the deck we have.

The projector sound cool. Reminds me of days of my youth when the city would project a movie on the back of the city building every Friday night across the summer. Free for everyone... just bring your lawn chair. It was fun but it was either raining, blowing like crazy, hotter than hell, or the mosquitos would take off one of your limbs. :) If not for chasing the girls at the time, it was a no win adventure. Kansas is not the place to hang out and watch a movie outside.

it works great on my patio, but it only works great when it is at night. it does work once, the sun sets and it starts to get dark. it does not work at all with my porch shade. maybe if i get an actual projector screen, it will work better in brighter settings. this is going to be perfect during the long summer months.

I know we have an old school one that, you know those movie projectors old school ones, we had a smaller one, in the living room for old movies of the family, these days we have DVDS. But I am pretty sure we have a projector screen..

The last few years I was trimming new homes, most had an indoor theater that I built tiers for the seating, back bars, screen surround and decorations. These are pics of one I did that is typical of most of them.

i would love to have an indoor movie room with a screen projector. if i was to do that, i would get a short throw projector. these are the ones that sit right underneath the projector screen. and i would get a special projector screen designed for short throw projectors in particular. long throw is your average projectors that you normally see.

so Nebula is coming out with a new projector. the specs are amazing.....the price not so much. so on may 21st. the price tag is $3,000!!!!!!!!!

New tech to me.. I think the huge advantage to an indoor theater would be controlling the environment, lighting, and acoustics.

I remember the first theater I did. I was back putting on cabinet hardware and the owner invited me down to the theater to watch some speed boat races and a drink. I was impressed with the quality of the projected show but blown away by the audio. Maybe it was the Jack and water but it sounded like those boats were racing around the theater.

yes that is correct....there is a reason why movie theaters still go with projectors rather than a large led screen. some of those indoor projectors for the home are just mad crazy in price......so far no issues with my projector. it does have an issue with not auto keystone. keystone is a feature that some projectors have. they use ai so that when you put a projector not perpendicular to the screen (like at an angle or side of the screen), the ai can adjust the image so that it looks normal. my projector sometimes does not do it automatically. i usually have to turn it on and off a few times to get it to adjust.
