I prefer to sync my Outlook calendar and contacts between a connected PC and smartphone, rather than Gmail cloud syncing. My HTC Hero (with HTC Sync) does this smoothly. After contacting LG Customer support, they have not yet modified the LG Sync. Today, the only solution is to export CSV file to GMail and then cloud sync. see quote below:

The LG Outlook Sync tool is meant for LG's "Feature" phones and hasn't been modified to work with the Smart phones as of yet.... Right now the Data fields it supports are very limited, so for Smart phones it's not the best option.
You can Export your contacts from Outlook to a ".CSV" file and then import them to the Optimus via GMail. When you import them into your Gmail account they are automatically exported to your phone.
