Root overclocking Esteem

Domdroid

Newbie
How safe is it to overclock esteem. I've done it with computers and know if you don't get it right you're usually left with a very expensive paper weight. I flashed new rom and one of it's features is the ability to overclock, so I was just wondering. If anyone could set me streight I would appreciate the help.
Thanks:confused:

Well first you need an app that sets your clock speed. SetCPU (free at xda) cpu master or from toolbox.
These use sliders that set the min and max speed of your phone
Each phone is made differently, so you may not be able to reach speeds I can, or vice versa.
When changing speed, do NOT check set on boot.
If you change the speed and your phone can't handle it, you'll boot loop your phone.

Mine cant seem to handle anything over 1.9..
Putting this on your SD "just-in-case" of bootloop +1

It is just an optional thing to do. If you have a game that keeps closing, then overclock to like 1.3GHz and see how that works. Our phone isn't meant to run at 1.7GHz all the time like i see a lot of people doing. Keep it on the stock 1024MHz setting until you are about go crazy with gaming, browsing, etc.

Personally i keep mine at 768MHz unless im using it for something other than talking, texting, and facebook.

EDIT: I think its safe as long as you dont over-do it. As for bricking the phone, definitely not going to brick your phone unless you max your settings out somehow overheat it before it can reboot on you lol
