Root OverClocking/Undervolting Question

Twisted, I have to agree with you on that. I have the droid overclock. Good app but I don't see much of a difference at all and I have been playing with the settings for a few weeks now. I do see a difference in battery life when I underclock.

However, when I overclock it drains the battery like you wouldn't believe and at the same time the speed gain is little to nothing. I did also try Quickclock advance overclocking app. That seemed to work a little better, on my phone anyway.

Only problem I have now is the market isn't showing me the quickclock app anymore. I paid for this app and now I can't find it to try it out on my GB to see if it works. Any insight on this?

Did you happen to make a backup of it? The nice thing with QuickClock is that you can overclock and under-volt at the same time so you get an increase in performance but better than stock battery life. I have mine OC'd to 1.2 GHz but I'm getting 36 hours of regular use on my stock battery and 51 hours with the Motorola extended battery.

I'm having the same problem man. I want quickclock back. :(

No, at the time I wasn't aware of being able to make back-ups of individual apps. I even tried to find it on applanet but it says it has nothing.

question: It's only a matter of minutes before someone on here posts the insane Quadrant scores they get while overclocked. My question is ...yeah you get a high score on Quadrant , but do you really notice anything running faster or smoother? I'm not a full believer in Quadrant. Not to mention i don't think Quadrant is very up to date.

I found it on appbrain but I cant get it. Appbrain shows the app, tells me to sync with appbrain, I sync with appbrain, click on install, and nothing. Searched for it with the appbrain app and it directs me to the market where it says no such file found.

I'm getting a bit peeved. Should I contact the dev and see if he can do something about this?

I notice it most while playing games and watching videos online. Not only do quadrant scores increase but my Linpack score is higher and so is my Nenamark1 score.

Do you mean a quadrant score like this, I had to bump my clock speed up to 1.4 GHz to get it.

yes one exactly like that. Which also explains why I don't think Quadrant is up to date. It still hasn't added the TB to it.

I must qualify this by saying I don't game on my phone but I cannot tell the difference between 1400 and 1750 quadrant scores in practical use for my usage. I used quadrant with the OG droid to test different kernels against each other but beyond that...

Just throwing my overclocking/underclocking experience out there:

Rooted my phone yesterday, went crazy playing around with it, overclocked using quickclock and I actually did see a VERY noticeable increase in performance (but then, I had specifically noticed poor performance before I had rooted, so maybe if your phone's already running smooth it won't do you much good)
However after a while I started noticing some stability issues, played around with it but I couldn't get it stable, all I could do was... change the symptoms. So I decided to try underclocking until I learned more about overclocking settings...

and I haven't noticed an improved battery life at all.
BUT... like I said I just rooted my phone, so I've been playing with it like crazy... so it's not really fair for me to judge battery life yet.

I also had juicedefender, SeePU and juiceplotter running, and overall I think that just helped to kill my battery more than anything.

edit: but I HAVE noticed more stability while underclocked, even from stock... so if nothing else, i'll take it for that alone
