Root Overclocking/Undervolting

So the day before yesterday I went into a sprint store with my older brother to get a new phone. During that whole process, the act of rooting came up. I mentioned that I had my shift overclocked to 1.2ghtz. The Guy we were talking to (who was very helpful by the way) urged it was a bad idea to even THINK about overclocking an evo shift and if anything I should underclock it. Am I missing something here? I haven't read even a single thing about someone having a bad experience overclocking their shift, so someone with experience please enlighten me.

As long as it doesn't get hot, you'll be ok. Heat is the enemy when over clocking.

I mean yeah my phone gets warm but never hot. I stop using it when it gets warm specifically for that reason. My younger brother said his iphone would get hotter than my phone just by watching videos on youtube, and his wasn't jailbroken or anything, flat out stock

There are ways to setup whatever app you use to overclock to safeguard against overheating.

Not sure exactly... I've heard 105 is about the limit, but don't hold me to that... I know I've seen 115, and shut everything down right away...
