Hey im totally new to this rooting thing. I was able to root my phone with the one click rotting guide. I was wondering how do i overclock my phone now that i have rooted the phone

Thanks

OCing is accomplished by replacing your existing kernel with an alternate one. There are many kernel developers out there, but unless you want issues, read a lot carefully, and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A NANDROID BACKUP IN PLACE before you start fudging around with kernels - these can easily render your phone unable to boot if you try to OC to a level that you phone cannot handle.

I'm assuming that you have an alternate recovery installed, but if not, you'll need to get that first.

Fortunately, since you're rooted, all you need to do is get ROM manager from the market and then Flash ClockworkMod Recovery onto your phone.

Once you've done that, you can then use the backup Current ROM item to make a backup.

Nate, at the very least, even before you change kernels, you can overclock your stock kernel to 800 MHz (up from the stock value of 600). You will want a utility such as "SetCPU" (in the market) to allow you to make the actual change in clock speed. You can get SetCPU and learn to use it (and overclock to 800) while you build the nerve to flash a new kernel, thereby allowing you to overclock even higher. :)
