Root Overclocking

I have a Triumph that is rooted and flashed with CM7. I went into Cyagenmod settings and overclocked at 1.4. I tried web surfing and it doesnt seem any faster. I usually get 1 to 2 bars signal strength at my house. I was under the impression that overclocking the kernal is suppose to give you faster sppeds. Can anyone help me out with this. Ive also noticed that when I reboot, and get back into settings, the kernal speed always reverts back to the 1024 speed. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks for your help.

With most tasks you won't notice much difference. Browsing the web depends on data/wifi speeds as well. To nake the overclock stay, you need to select the option "set at boot" or something similar.
Probably the only task that you will see very much of a visible difference is in games. Even there you might not.
