Root overclocking

Hey everyone,

I recently rooted to froyo and I installed the kernal to overclock between 250 and 12500. I use setcpu and even with it set at 12500, the phone will still act slow sometimes. For example, with a live wallpaper on, if I click to look at my apps, it stutters. If I take the live wallpaper off, its fine. Anyone have an idea? I thought overclocking would take care of this.

What live wallpaper were you using? Some of them are pretty processor intensive (which is why I don't use them).

They are a nice idea, and some of them have the smart feature of throttling their CPU demand. Otherwise they are always banging away with requests to the CPU so they can run as smoothly as possible which interferes with the requests from the home screen app to animate the switching from one screen to another.

How do you have everything set in setCPU? Try setting your CPU Governor on Performance. If that doesnt help then maybe you need to turn up the Min value to like 400 MHz instead of 250 MHz. The system will lag a little bit trying to speed up from that low of a value all the way up to 1250 MHz.
