Help Overheating after Update

My phone just updated this morning, and within hours it is overheating! When I plug it in to my USB to charge I got a notification "Battery is low. The charging current is not enough for device power consumption. Please switch to AC adapter." From my research I am finding that the new Verizon Location Agent which was hidden in the update is absolutely slaughtering people's battery life! When I go into running services, low and behold, there it is! Verizon is sending my a new phone, which I will get tomorrow. Is there any way for me to prevent my new phone from downloading the update? Thanks.

I dont think the update is causing the overheating there would of been more complaints about it. You probably just have a defective device.

I've got the update, see the location agent running but am not experiencing over heating and my buttery life has been considerably better.

Something else is wrong with your phone. I think you can download the update but wait to install, not sure if it will do it automatically once you reboot or not but think you can defer it.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking (and HOPING) the same thing. The phone has to be defective in some way. It is constantly losing 3G, can't pick up 4G, and will often lose data all together. I would think the overheating is due to the phone working it's a$$ off trying to pull a data signal. I will say one thing good about Verizon technical support. I got a tier 2 guy yesterday that worked with me for at least 30 minutes trying to resolve my issue. Then he called me back this afternoon to follow up. In the meantime another tech went ahead and sent out a replacement overnight. I REALLY hope this solves my problems...

I think your problems will be solved with a new unit. I'm like the others... if the update was causing the over heating.. everyone would be in this thread complaining.
Good luck with the new unit.

Thanks for the input. Received the "like new replacement" from Verizon on Friday. I expected a brand new unit in all of it's packaging, but I really have no issues. The new phone hadn't a mark on it, and has been performing flawlessly so far! I haven't gotten stuck in 1X or had trouble bouncing between 4G and 3G. I run the extended battery and got about 13 hours out of it yesterday while on "High Performance" mode and 4G for most of the day. I get horrible cell service at my house, so it's not likely that I will ever get astounding life out of my big battery unless I invest in a network extender here in the house...which very well could happen. Anyway...fingers crossed that my new phone will keep on cruising along. After dabbling with the Razr for two days and refusing to settle for their defective screen, I am stoked to be back with Rezound and it's flawless 720 screen!

Just wondering if your replacement had the update already installed on it. When I had my TBolt, people who got CLN replacement phones usually had the latest updates installed on them. If not, I don't think there's any way to keep from getting it pushed to you.

Glad to hear the replacement is working well for you so far.

Just as an FYI, I have read of several people who have called Verizon and complained about having bad cell service at home and were sent new network extenders for free. If you haven't already, it won't hurt to call and complain and see what happens.

The replacement did not have the update already installed. It pulled the update early the morning after I got it. No issues with the update so far. HOWEVER...the speaker on this phone is about half as loud as my original unit, and crackles pretty bad. So much so that I really can't use it effectively as a speaker phone, and I rarely hear my ringer! Needless to say, there is ANOTHER replacement enroute. One of these days I will get a Rezound without some defect or another! What a year for Verizon and it's supposed super phones! Razr - defective screens with black spots, GN - Horrible antenna and data connectivity, Rezound - you name it.

I feel your pain. I am on my 3rd rezound since Monday. I think the certified like New is bullshit. They need to take their time fixing these phones.

Yep. My "New" phone will be at the house when I get home today. I am PRAYING that it has no issues! This one, aside from the blown speaker, has functioned perfectly! I hope I get a phone that someone returned just because they didn't like the size or something! You never know...

Ok! Up and running with the newest CPO Rezound! All is well so far. One thing I am noticing right off the bat... This phone runs WAY cooler than the others! Same apps, power setting, etc. Who knows...
