Help Overheating/Battery usage with Lookout?

OK. So, I've got me a VZW SCH-1545, running 4.4.2, did the latest update on 12/9.

It's been running hot. Really hot. Super-toasty "going into cool-down mode" hot, for what is basically no reason. (Used to only run hot when sitting in the sun in my dash, doing navigating -- now it's running hot when I'm just sitting on my sofa, surfing the web.)

I am curious as to why it may be doing that. I take a look at my battery usage to see what is using a lot of battery, and it identifies two apps (one is Lookout; the other I rarely use) as using more battery than my screen (when I expect my screen to be Number One on the list). So, I updated Lookout (figuring maybe the old version of Lookout was having issues with the latest system update) and uninstalled the other app. Restarted phone.

The phone is now running at a pleasant 75 degrees (when it had been more in the 88 degree neighborhood before). However, my battery usage still says Lookout is using a heap more battery than my screen.

I guess ... I guess my question is twofold: (1) Has anyone else experienced wacky amounts of Lookout battery usage after the latest system update; and (2) ... I have to do a factory data reset, don't I? (Lord knows, I hate doing it, but I can't think of anything else.)
