Overheating?!

So ive only had my HTC Evo V from radioshack for less than 2 weeks. This morning i left home with 100% battery like at 8am and at 9am I felt heat in my pocket and when I took it out it was scorching hot. Not hot near the battery but hot near the camera and the top of the screen. My battery life was at 14 in less then an hour. I really am furious. I had the Triumph before and had 4 defective phones. I returned my Evo today and got another one. Aside from the heat issue I also had the radio problem. And with this new phone today I have the same radio issue. I want another phone but its the only 4g phone Vrigin has and before you ask yes I NEED 4g. My 3g service sucks! Why can phone just work the way they are supposed too? sighhh.

My phone has gotten a little warm like that near the camera, but only while transmitting lots of data (4G, 3G...). If it is scorching hot to where it is too hot to even hold the phone then you should return the phone immediately because it damages the phone if if keeps getting hot like this.

Go to Settings > System Updates > and then do Update Profile and Update PRL. Make sure 4G and WIFI are off to avoid conflicts. This should help with the Radio issue or at least tone it down a little bit.

yeah i returned it today so I have a new one. The Radioshack rep told me that has been an issue since the day the phone came out for Sprint.

its the first thing i did. its so annoying. the first text i sent after activating the phone did it

If you're in an area that has a weak signal, it will happen. At home where my signal strength is poor, mine does that as well. It will get warm quick, and the battery drain at an alarming rate. But if I go to where the signal is good, the battery drain is much less, and the phone hardly gets warm.

I've had this exact same issue with both of my phones. More so my second phone. Got tired of imy 1st phone acting up, so after 60 days i requested VM send me a replacement phone....which was a refurb. Replacement phone has none of the problems of my 1st EVO.....except the super heating in the exact same area as yours. Not where the battery is at, but up near the camera.

I live in an area with a weak 3g signal and agree, I think that triggers the meltdown. Problem is, once it starts, short of turning off the phone for a while or pulling the battery, there is nothing I can do to stop it until the battery runs out after 1-2 hours. Even if I acquire a good signal again, it doesn't stop the process. I compare it to a nuclear core meltdown.....

I never have my Wi Fi on. This appears to be all about the signal. If there's any suggestions to stopping it, I'm all ears. ;) Honestly, I'm strongly thinking about going back to TMobile. They have good service in my area, a 1-2 decent pre paid phones, or I can just get a google nexus.
